Steve Greenberg (businessman)
Steve Greenberg (born March 18, 1971) is a businessman, former professional hockey player, and was the Republican nominee for U.S. Congress in Illinois's 8th congressional district; he was defeated by incumbent Democrat Melissa Bean. Greenberg is a former professional hockey player who played parts of two seasons for the Hampton Roads Admirals, a Washington Capitals affiliated minor league team. After an injury ended his hockey career he took a job with his family's company, Promotions Unlimited, where he headed up the sales department. While he was in charge of sales, Promotions Unlimited saw its greatest period of growth. He is also the owner of Herr's Pacific, which distributes art supplies and craft materials. Greenberg was recruited by the national Republicans to run against either Congresswoman Bean or Senator Dick Durbin. Steve Greenberg is an American record producer currently heading the S-Curve Records label. He also manages the pop band AJR and is the host/writer of the podcast "Speed of Sound". He is noted for "discovering" popular musical acts such as Hanson, Baha Men, Jonas Brothers, Joss Stone and AJR. He received a 2000 Grammy Award in the "Best Dance Recording" category as a producer of " Who Let the Dogs Out?" by Baha Men. Greenberg also won a 2019 Grammy Award in the "Best Album Notes" category for his essay featured in the " Stax '68: A Memphis Story" boxed set. From 2005 to 2006, he served as the president of Columbia Records, where he produced the debut album by the Jonas Brothers. Steven Greenberg (born October 24, 1950) is an American musician, record producer and the owner of the independent label October Records. He is best known for his band Lipps Inc.'s 1980 hit song "Funkytown" (which was also a hit for Australian band Pseudo Echo). Career Greenberg was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. In his twenties, Greenberg was a multi-instrumentalist who played in several bands. He had been trying for some time to secure a production deal, and he drew the interest of the Casablanca label with a disco track called " Rock It," which became a hit locally. Released nationally in late 1979, "Rock It" made it into the Top 20 on the Billboard Disco Charts.
