Stefan Eeckelaert
Stefan Eeckelaert (3 July 1964 – 8 January 2019) was a Belgian professional darts player. Career Eeckelaert won the 1988 Dortmund Open, the 1990 French Open and the 1991 Antwerp Open. He made his major debut in the 1993 Winmau World Masters, losing in the first round to Ray Farrell. Eeckelaert then went on to win the Belgium National Championship and the Belgium Gold Cup in 1994 and also reached the final of the Norway Open and the Belgium Open, losing to Mike Gregory in both finals. He returned to the World Masters the same year, but suffered a second first round exit in a defeat to Roland Scholten. BDO World Darts Championship
The WDF World Darts Championship is a world championship competition in darts, organised by the World Darts Federation. It would previously organised by the British Darts Organisation (BDO), who held it 43 times from 1978 to 2020. The championship was first held at the Heart of the Midlands Nightclub in the English city of Nottingham. The following year it moved to the Jollees Cabaret Club, Stoke, where it stayed until 1985. From 1986 to 2019, it was held at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, Surrey. In 2020, the tournament was held at Indigo, part of the O2 entertainment district in London. Until the split in darts, it was the only World Darts Championship tournament. The 1993 tournament was the last unified Championship. 16 players left following a dispute with the BDO and the newly formed Professional Darts Corporation started staging its own annual PDC World Championship since 1994. Richie Burnett
Richard Mark "Richie" Burnett (born 7 February 1967), nicknamed Prince of Wales, is a Welsh professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He is a former World No. 1 who won the 1995 Embassy World Darts Championship. Burnett is known for coming on to "Dakota" and dancing on stage. He is also known for his fiery personality, fighting with Adrian Lewis on stage during the 2012 Players Championship Finals. BDO career Burnett was born in Cwmparc, Rhondda and first came to prominence shortly after the split in the game, after the PDC and the BDO players went their separate ways. Burnett began to win many titles in the BDO in 1994, which included the Dutch Open, Welsh Open, British Matchplay and the Denmark Open. Peter Hunt (darts Player)
Peter Hunt (born 22 January 1965) is a former New Zealand professional darts player who played in the BDO/ WDF and PDC circuit. With multiple titles to his name, he was one of New Zealand's leading darts players. Career Hunt has played in four BDO World Darts Championships, first qualifying in 1993, the last unified World Championship before the infamous split in darts, losing 3–0 to Scotland's Ronnie Sharp. He returned in 1995, beating Belgium's Stefan Eeckelaert 3–0 in the first round before losing 3–2 in the second round to Colin Monk. It would be eight years before Hunt returned to Lakeside in 2003, losing in the first round to Bob Taylor. He returned a year layer, but again lost in round one to Paul Hogan. Roland Scholten
Roland Scholten (born 11 January 1965) is a Dutch former professional darts player who played in events of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and British Darts Organisation (BDO). Nicknamed The Tripod and The Flying Dutchman, Scholten turned full-time professional in 2001 having previously worked as a publican. Despite his Dutch nationality, Scholten speaks with a strong English accent having lived in Peterborough for several years. His considerable height and throwing technique means his darts hit the board at a considerably narrow angle. BDO career Scholten was runner-up in the 1992 Austrian Open, losing to Rod Harrington. Michael Seward "Mike" Gregory (16 December 1956 – 19 April 2022) was an English professional darts player, who reached the final of the Winmau World Masters twice and also reached the final of the Embassy World Darts Championship in 1992 – losing to Phil Taylor in a match regarded amongst the greatest matches ever played. Darts career Gregory was one of the top ranked players from the mid-1980s through to the early 1990s, having been seeded in the top four at the World Championships on seven occasions – although he never won the World title. His major breakthrough was beating John Lowe in the semi-finals of the 1983 British Open in which he finished runner-up to Eric Bristow. Ray Farrell
Raymond "Ray" Farrell is a former Northern Irish professional darts player. Career Farrell reached the final of the 1985 Winmau World Masters, having beaten Bobby George, Jan Erik Paulsen, Steve Gittins and Tony Payne along the way before he was eventually beaten by Dave Whitcombe. Farrell then played in three successive World Championships, losing in the first round in each occasion. In 1987, he lost 3-2 to Alan Evans, in 1988 he lost 3-2 to Eric Bristow and in 1989 he was beaten 3-1 by Peter Evison. Farrell represented Team Northern Ireland in 1978, 1984 and 1985 with the players Steve Brennan, David Keery & Fred McMullan on the World Darts Federation.
