Starkey Banton
Starkey Banton, also known as Starkey Super (born David Murray, 15 November 1962), is a British reggae deejay known for his "cultural" lyrics, active since the mid-1970s. Biography Born in Hammersmith, London, in 1962, Murray began performing in the mid-1970s under the name Starkey Super on the London sound system circuit.Larkin, Colin (1998) ''The Virgin Encyclopedia of Reggae'', Virgin Books, , p.20 He changed his stage name to Starkey Banton ("Banton", meaning a deejay full of lyrics) in response to the popularity of several other performers using the Banton name. Hammersmith
Hammersmith is a district of West London, England, southwest of Charing Cross. Mafia & Fluxy are a British reggae rhythm section and production team, consisting of the brothers Leroy (bass) and David Heywood (drums), whose careers began with London reggae band The Instigators in 1977. They backed Jamaican artists on UK tours, and in 1987 visited Jamaica, building rhythm tracks for producers such as Bunny Lee, King Jammy, Donovan Germain and Philip "Fatis" Burrell, becoming one of the most in-demand rhythm sections of the ragga age. They started their own label, producing for artists such as Sugar Minott, King Kong, Gregory Isaacs, Johnny Osbourne, Cornell Campbell and General Levy. Mad Professor (born Neil Joseph Stephen Fraser, 1955, Georgetown, Guyana) is a Guyanese-born British dub music producer and engineer known for his original productions and remix work. He is considered one of the leading producers of dub music's second generation and was instrumental in transitioning dub into the digital age. Mykal Rose
Michael Rose (born 11 July 1957) is a Grammy award-winning reggae singer from Jamaica. He is known for a successful tenure with Black Uhuru from 1977 to 1984, and he has worked regularly with Dennis Brown, Big Youth, The Wailers, Gregory Isaacs, Sly and Robbie, and others. He has also released more than twenty solo albums. Career Rose started his recording career as a solo artist for record producers Yabby You and Niney the Observer. He joined Black Uhuru in 1977 after the departure of Don Carlos and Garth Dennis. As lead singer and a primary songwriter, Rose led Black Uhuru to international recognition in the early 1980s, and the group won the first-ever Grammy Award for reggae in 1985 for the album ''Anthem''. Rose left Black Uhuru in 1985 after falling out with group founder Duckie Simpson, and retired to the Blue Mountains in Jamaica to start a coffee farm.
