St Augustine's (electoral Ward)
St Augustine's is an electoral ward in the town of Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It covers Penarth Head and Penarth Marina northeast of the town centre, including the parish church of St Augustine's. The ward elects three county councillors to Vale of Glamorgan Council and five councillors to Penarth Town Council. The ward is currently represented by the Labour Party. According to the 2011 census the population of the ward was 6,478. Background Following ''The County Borough of The Vale of Glamorgan (Electoral Changes) Order 2002'' the county ward of Alexandra was divided to become St Augustine's and Plymouth wards, effective from October 2003 for preliminary electoral proceedings but fully effective at the May 2004 Vale of Glamorgan Council elections. Llandough ( /lænˈdɒk/; cy, Llandochau Fach an'doːχaɨ vaχ is a village, community and electoral ward in the Vale of Glamorgan ( cy, Bro Morgannwg, links=no), Wales, approximately 2.3 miles (3.7 km) south west of Cardiff city centre, and approximately 1.3 miles (2 km) north west of Penarth. The 2017 Vale of Glamorgan Council election took place on Thursday 4 May 2017 to elect members of Vale of Glamorgan Council in Wales. There were 47 council seats available, across 23 wards. This was the same day as other United Kingdom local elections. The previous full council election took place on 3 May 2012, with the next full council election due to take place on 5 May 2022. The 2012 Vale of Glamorgan Council election took place on Thursday 3 May 2012 to elect members of Vale of Glamorgan Council in Wales. This was the same day as other United Kingdom local elections. The previous full council election took place on 1 May 2008 and the next one took place on 4 May 2017. Election result The Conservatives lost control of the council after losing 14 seats. The Labour Party became the largest grouping, but failed to win enough seats for an overall majority. Alexandra was an electoral ward in Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It elected county councillors to the Vale of Glamorgan Council at the 1995 and 1999 local elections. Plymouth is an electoral ward in the town of Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It covers the more affluent part of the town south of the town centre. It stretches either side of Lavernock Road which includes Lower Penarth and Cosmeston (including Glamorganshire Golf Club and Cosmeston Lakes).
