St George's College, Mussoorie
St. George's College, Mussoorie, is an all-boys boarding and non-boarding school in Mussoorie, in the state of Uttarakhand, India, affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations board. The school, an all-boys residential and non-residential institution, spreading over of land, was founded in 1853 by the Capuchin Fathers and entrusted to the Society of the Brothers of St. Patrick (Ireland) in 1894. It was opened in a cottage known as Manor House; the name by which the campus is still known. The students are known as Manorites. The school has an alumni network spread across the globe. St. George's Catholic School is a Roman Catholic secondary school, with academy status, in Maida Vale, Westminster, London, England. The school also offers sixth form education franchised from St Thomas More Catholic School. History In 2010, Ofsted stated that "St. George’s has undergone a remarkable transformation and has now confidently emerged from a turbulent period". The school received publicity in 1995 when headmaster Philip Lawrence was fatally stabbed whilst intervening in a fight outside the school gates in order to protect a pupil. Founded to provide choirboys for the Choir of St George's Chapel, it now educates over 400 boys and girls. History The school was established to provide six choristers for the Choir of St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, which sings in St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, which is the official country residence of the British Royal Family. St George's School, Ascot is an independent boarding and day school in Ascot, Berkshire, England. It was founded as a boys' school and later became a girls' school. History The school was founded in 1877 as a boys' preparatory school. Among its former pupils was the British war-time Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
