Spoor (film)
''Spoor'' ( pl, Pokot) is a 2017 Polish crime film directed by Agnieszka Holland, adapted from the novel ''Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead'' by Olga Tokarczuk. It was selected to compete for the Golden Bear in the main competition section of the 67th Berlin International Film Festival. At Berlin, the film won the Alfred Bauer Prize (Silver Bear). It was selected as the Polish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 90th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. The Polish-language title, ''Pokot'', is a hunting term that refers to the count of wild animals killed. The English title ''Spoor'' refers to the traces and tracks left behind by the hunted game. Plot The film is set in a remote mountainous region of the Kłodzko Valley in south-western Poland, where an eccentric elderly woman, Janina Duszejko, lives with her two dogs. Agnieszka Holland
Agnieszka Holland (born 28 November 1948) is a Poles, Polish film and television director and screenwriter, best known for her political contributions to Polish cinema. She began her career as assistant to directors Krzysztof Zanussi and Andrzej Wajda, and emigrated to France shortly before the 1981 imposition of the martial law in Poland. Holland is best known for her films ''Europa Europa'' (1990), for which she received an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay nomination, and ''The Secret Garden (1993 film), The Secret Garden'' (1993), as well as ''Angry Harvest'' and the Holocaust drama ''In Darkness (2011 film), In Darkness'', both of which were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Kłodzko Valley
The Kłodzko Valley ( pl, Kotlina Kłodzka, cs, Kladská kotlina, german: Glatzer Kessel) a valley in the Sudetes mountain range, that covers the central part of Kłodzko County in south-western Poland, with the southern tip extending to the Czech Republic around the town of Králíky. The chief and largest town in the valley is Kłodzko. List Of Submissions To The 90th Academy Awards For Best Foreign Language Film
This is a list of submissions to the 90th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has invited the film industries of various countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film every year since the award was created in 1956. The award is presented annually by the Academy to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The Foreign Language Film Award Committee oversees the process and reviews all the submitted films. The submitted motion pictures must be first released theatrically in their respective countries between 1 October 2016 and 30 September 2017. The deadline for submissions was 2 October 2017, with the Academy announcing a list of eligible films on 5 October. Metacritic is a website that review aggregator, aggregates reviews of films, TV shows, music albums, video games and formerly, books. For each product, the scores from each review are averaged (a weighted arithmetic mean, weighted average). Metacritic was created by Jason Dietz, Marc Doyle, and Julie Doyle Roberts in 1999. The site provides an excerpt from each review and hyperlinks to its source. A color of green, yellow or red summarizes the critics' recommendations. It is regarded as the foremost online review aggregation site for the video game industry. Metacritic's scoring converts each review into a percentage, either mathematically from the mark given, or what the site decides subjectively from a qualitative review.
