The 14th annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from 26 June to 7 July 1964. The Swedish film '' 491'' by Vilgot Sjöman was rejected by festival director ''Alfred Bauer'' owing to its controversial nature. ''Terror in the Crypt'' ( it, La cripta e l’incubo) is a 1964 Italian-Spanish horror film directed by Camillo Mastrocinque. The film is based on the 1872 novel ''Carmilla'' by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu. Production ''Terror in the Crypt'' is based on Sheridan Le Fanu's novel ''Carmilla''. It is the third adaptation of the novel, following Carl Theodor Dreyer's ''Vampyr'' and Roger Vadim's ''Blood and Roses''. According to Tonino Valerii, the script was written in three days, while Ernesto Gastaldi stated that it was written in 24 hours. Gastaldi has also claimed that he lied to a producer that they had a script ready, and then returned home to pen the script to return to the producer with the following day. The original title of the script was entitled ''La maledizione dei Karnstein'' (lit.: "The Curse of the Karnsteins"). The film was originally going to be directed by Antonio Margheriti. The 17th Cannes Film Festival was held from 29 April to 14 May 1964. On this occasion, the Palme d’Or was renamed "Grand Prix du Festival International du Film", a name that remained in use through 1974, after which it became the Palme d'Or again. Manuel Summers Rivero (26 March 1935 – 12 June 1993) was a Spanish film director, screenwriter and actor. Biography Father of David Summers Rodríguez leading singer of Pop group Hombres G and of Cheyenne Summers, Spanish voice actress, and brother of journalist Guillermo Summers, was born in Seville and later made adoptive son of Lepe, Huelva.
