Spacehog
Spacehog are an English rock band formed in 1994 in New York City. Their music is heavily influenced by David Bowie, Queen (band), Queen, and T.Rex (band), T. Rex. The band's best known single is In the Meantime (Spacehog song), "In the Meantime". History Though all the band members are from Leeds, West Yorkshire, the band was formed in New York City. Antony Langdon met Jonny Cragg by chance in a café where Cragg had a job killing rats. Soon after, Langdon's brother Royston joined the band, and Spacehog was born. The band's original guitarist, Robert Curreri, was asked to leave the band, and Cragg's Canadian friend Richard Steel replaced him in 1994. The band signed in 1994 with Seymour Stein to Sire Records. "In the Meantime" is the debut single of English alternative rock band Spacehog, from their debut album, ''Resident Alien (Spacehog album), Resident Alien'' (1995). It samples the Penguin Cafe Orchestra song "Telephone and Rubber Band". Resident Alien (Spacehog Album)
''Resident Alien'' is the debut studio album by the English glam rock band Spacehog. Released by Sire Records and Elektra Records on 24 October 1995, the album was certified gold on 29 July 1996 and included the hit single " In the Meantime", which reached the top of the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in the US, and remained there for four weeks. Most of ''Resident Alien''s basic tracks were recorded live in a barn in Woodstock, New York. It was intended to give the album the immediacy of live room recording. Although Jonny Cragg makes his singing debut in "Skylark" on the band's second LP, ''The Chinese Album'', it is his voice that introduces "Space Is the Place" on ''Resident Alien''. The spoken line in the middle of "Never Coming Down (Part II)", "Everybody in the world is bent", comes from the 1969 movie ''The Italian Job''. The Chinese Album
''The Chinese Album'' is the second album from the expatriate British alternative rock band Spacehog. It was released on Sire Records in 1998. ''The Chinese Album'' was considered for a soundtrack and basis of a film called ''Mungo City'' (later called ''The Chinese Movie''). It was to be about a band that moves to Hong Kong for success after being rejected by a New York record company. Unsatisfied with the final script, Spacehog dismissed any plans for shooting. Spacehog wrote and recorded 20 songs for ''The Chinese Album''. Among these are the B-sides "Final Frontier", "Isle of Manhattan" and "Cryogenic Lover", which were released on European singles. "Carry On" peaked at No. 43 on the UK Singles Chart. Critical reception ''The A.V. Royston Langdon
Royston William Langdon (born 1 May 1972) is an English musician who is the lead singer and bassist of the English-American glam rock band Spacehog. Early life Langdon was born on 1 May 1972 in Leeds. When he was young, he and his older brother Antony joined the Leeds Parish Church choir; the two of them would later found Spacehog in 1994, with Antony playing rhythm guitar in the band. Langdon wanted to become a photographer and artist and dreamed of attending Saint Martin's School of Art in London. At the age of 16, he was kicked out of school. Shortly after Spacehog was formed, Langdon came to New York City, where he met Bryce Goggin; the two became friends, and Goggin would later produce Spacehog's best known song, " In the Meantime". The Hogyssey
''The Hogyssey'' is the third album from rock band Spacehog. The album was released on compact disc by Artemis Records on 10 April 2001. The title track is a rock arrangement of Richard Strauss's ''Also Sprach Zarathustra'', similar to Eumir Deodato's "Also Sprach Zarathustra (2001)". The album was recorded at Ardent Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. ''The Hogyssey'' went through several name changes. The original name was ''This Is America'' and later named ''2001: A Space Hogyssey'' after the title track. Then, after a lawsuit threat, the album was renamed again as ''The Hogyssey''. Arckid
Arckid was a rock band from the 1990s and 2000s, heavily influenced by David Bowie, Queen and T. Rex. Arckid was composed of Royston Langdon (bass guitar and vocals), Antony Langdon (guitar and vocals), Christian Langdon (guitar and vocals) and Jonny Cragg (drums). They were formed primarily of former members of Spacehog, History In 2004, Royston Langdon teamed up with one of the former members of Blind Melon to form the band The Quick. Later, they ran into problems touring with the name, and they decided to rename it The Tender Trio. Ultimately, The Tender Trio broke up on March 2, 2006. Royston, Antony and Christian Langdon then pooled their resources to form Arckid. By June 2006, they had recorded eight songs with Bryce Goggin at Trout Studios in Brooklyn. Artemis Records was a New York-based independent record label, founded in July 1999 by Danny Goldberg with Daniel Glass as President, and closed in April 2006. Michael Stipe
John Michael Stipe (; born January 4, 1960) is an American singer-songwriter and artist, best known as the lead singer and lyricist of alternative rock band R.E.M. He is known for his vocal quality, poetic lyrics and unique stage presence. Possessing a distinctive voice, Stipe has been noted for the "mumbling" style of his early career. ''TFI Friday'' is an entertainment show that was broadcast on Channel 4 television in the United Kingdom. It was produced by Ginger Productions, written by Danny Baker, and hosted by Chris Evans, for the first five series. The sixth series was hosted by several guest presenters. The show was broadcast on Fridays at 6pm from 9 February 1996 to 22 December 2000, with a repeat later that night. Its theme tune was Ron Grainer's theme from ''Man in a Suitcase'', in keeping with Evans' frequent use of 1960s television themes in his work. A one-off revival episode of the show was broadcast on Channel 4 on 12 June 2015.
