The Hogyssey
''The Hogyssey'' is the third album from rock band Spacehog. The album was released on compact disc by Artemis Records on 10 April 2001. The title track is a rock arrangement of Richard Strauss's ''Also Sprach Zarathustra'', similar to Eumir Deodato's "Also Sprach Zarathustra (2001)". The album was recorded at Ardent Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. ''The Hogyssey'' went through several name changes. The original name was ''This Is America'' and later named ''2001: A Space Hogyssey'' after the title track. Then, after a lawsuit threat, the album was renamed again as ''The Hogyssey''. Critical reception John Duffy of AllMusic commended the attempt to recapture the ''Resident Alien'' sound through impactful and inspired riffs but was critical of the band copying themselves and their "Zarathustra" reworking being "downright ill-advised", concluding that: "Crunchy guitars aside, perhaps ''Hogyssey'' is a misstep for Langdon and company." Spacehog Albums
Spacehog are an English rock band formed in 1994 in New York City. Their music is heavily influenced by David Bowie, Queen, and T. Rex. The band's best known single is "In the Meantime". History Though all the band members are from Leeds, West Yorkshire, the band was formed in New York City. Antony Langdon met Jonny Cragg by chance in a café where Cragg had a job killing rats. Soon after, Langdon's brother Royston joined the band, and Spacehog was born. The band's original guitarist, Robert Curreri, was asked to leave the band, and Cragg's Canadian friend Richard Steel replaced him in 1994. The band signed in 1994 with Seymour Stein to Sire Records. Devon Powers (born 1977 or 1978) is an American communication studies professor, author, and former music journalist. Biography Powers was born in 1977 or 1978. Her father, Lee R. Powers, is an engineer and her mother, Mandy Powers, is a nurse. In 2007 she married lawyer David Bennion. Powers is African American. ''Resident Alien'' is the debut studio album by the English glam rock band Spacehog. Released by Sire Records and Elektra Records on 24 October 1995, the album was certified gold on 29 July 1996 and included the hit single " In the Meantime", which reached the top of the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in the US, and remained there for four weeks. Most of ''Resident Alien''s basic tracks were recorded live in a barn in Woodstock, New York. It was intended to give the album the immediacy of live room recording. Although Jonny Cragg makes his singing debut in "Skylark" on the band's second LP, ''The Chinese Album'', it is his voice that introduces "Space Is the Place" on ''Resident Alien''.
