Space Raiders (band)
Space Raiders were an electronic group from Middlesbrough. They formed in 1997, making their debut at the Middlesbrough Arena on Halloween 1997. Their performance consisted of the members of the band kitted out in fancy dress dancing to a pre-recorded Digital Audio Tape. Despite this humble start, the band was signed to Fatboy Slim's Skint Records in Brighton and released their debut single "Glam Raid" in early 1998. It reached #68 in the UK Singles Chart in March. The band went on to release their debut album, ''Don't Be Daft'' and a second album ''Hot Cakes''. The band is probably best known for their single; "(I Need The) Disko Doktor". "Laidback" also received airplay on cable music rotation channels. Middlesbrough
Middlesbrough ( ) is a town on the southern bank of the River Tees in North Yorkshire, England. It is near the North York Moors national park. It is the namesake and main town of its local borough council area. Until the early 1800s, the area was rural farming land. By 1830, a new industrial town and port started to be developed, driven by the coal and later ironworks. Halloween
Halloween or Hallowe'en (less commonly known as Allhalloween, All Hallows' Eve, or All Saints' Eve) is a celebration observed in many countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Saints' Day. Fatboy Slim
Norman Quentin Cook (born Quentin Leo Cook, 31 July 1963), also known by his stage name Fatboy Slim, is an English musician, DJ, and record producer who helped to popularise the big beat genre in the 1990s. In the 1980s, Cook was the bassist for the Kingston upon Hull, Hull-based indie rock band the Housemartins, who achieved a UK number-one single with their a cappella cover of "Caravan of Love". After the Housemartins split up, Cook formed the electronic band Beats International in Brighton, who produced the number-one single "Dub Be Good to Me". He then played in Freak Power, Pizzaman (band), Pizzaman, and the Mighty Dub Katz with moderate success. Skint Records
Skint Records is a Brighton and Hove based dance music record label owned by JC Reid, Tim Jeffery and Damian Harris. It was created as a sublabel of Loaded Records, also founded by Reid and Jeffery. Along with Wall of Sound, the label was a leader in the big beat music scene of the mid to late 1990s. The label's roster at this time included big beat scene leaders Fatboy Slim, Hardknox, Indian Ropeman, Freq Nasty and X-Press 2. Towards the end of the 1990s and at the start of the 21st century the label expanded its range of releases to include more house based songs. The most prominent example was " Lazy" by X-Press 2, which charted at number 2 in the UK Singles Chart. There were also releases by electronic music artist Dave Clarke as well as artists as diverse as Lucky Jim, Freq Nasty, FC Kahuna, Bentley Rhythm Ace, REQ and Ralfe Band. Brighton
Brighton () is a seaside resort and one of the two main areas of the City of Brighton and Hove in the county of East Sussex, England. It is located south of London. Archaeological evidence of settlement in the area dates back to the Bronze Age, Roman and Anglo-Saxon periods. SSX Tricky
''SSX Tricky'', also known as ''SSX 2'' or ''SSX 2: Tricky'', is a snowboarding video game, the second game in the ''SSX'' series published by Electronic Arts under the EA Sports BIG label and developed by EA Vancouver. Space Raiders (snack Food)
Space Raiders are a British brand of corn and wheat snacks made by KP Snacks. Introduced in 1987, the alien shaped snacks are currently available in Beef, Pickled Onion, Saucy BBQ and Spicy flavours. Pricing Space Raiders were launched in 1987 at a retail price of 10 pence; this price remained until late October 2007, when it increased to 15p. It later increased to 25p before lowering to 20p. The price has continued to fluctuate, reflecting the volatility of the underlying commodity prices. At the time of the original 5p price rise, the company who owns Space Raiders are known as KP Snacks. In October 2010 Space Raiders were relaunched in a new foil pack. These new packs were intended to 'increase shelf standout'. The ingredients were also changed. A new Saucy BBQ flavour variant was also announced. The packs were 20p each.
