Sopot, Albania
Sopot ( sq-definite, Sopoti) is a city in eastern Albania. It was part of the former municipality Stravaj. At the 2015 local government reform it became part of the municipality Prrenjas. Geography The area has natural attractions for tourism, such as the Gostima Waterfall, Karst, karstic caves, woods, a rich flora and fauna, and local ethnoculture. History According to a folkloric legend, during the Ottoman Albania, Ottoman invasion of this mountainous part of Albania, women with their children flew from the castle's wall so as not to surrender to the Ottomans. Following five hundred years of Ottoman occupation and islamisation, the population of Sopot now carries two names, one Moslem and one Christians, Christian. Prrenjas
Prrenjas (also written ''Përrenjas'', sq-definite, Përrenjasi) is a town and a municipality in Elbasan County, eastern Albania. The municipality was formed at the 2015 local government reform by the merger of the former municipalities Prrenjas, Qukës, Rrajcë and Stravaj, that became municipal units. The seat of the municipality is the town Prrenjas. The total population is 24,906 (2011 census), in a total area of 323.17 km2. The population of the former municipality at the 2011 census was 5,847. History The history of the creation of the city Prrenjas dates back a long time. In the period of the Ottoman Albanian wars, the area where the city rises was called Torviolli. The native hero, Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, before heading for battle (the battle is known in history as Battle of Torvioll) told to his fighters, that the battle must be won. Karst
Karst is a topography formed from the dissolution of soluble rocks such as limestone, dolomite, and gypsum. It is characterized by underground drainage systems with sinkholes and caves. Ottoman Albania
Albania under the Ottoman Empire refers to a period in Albanian history from the Ottoman conquest in the late 15th century to the Albanian declaration of Independence and official secession from the Ottoman Empire in 1912. The Ottomans first entered Albania in 1385 upon the invitation of the Albanian noble Karl Thopia to suppress the forces of the Serbian noble Balša II during the battle of Savra. Sopoti Librazhd
KF Sopoti is an Albanian sports club based in Librazhd. The club currently competes in the Kategoria e Dytë, the third tier of football in Albania. History They were founded in 1948 under the name ''KS Albania Tabak Librazhd'', and they play their home games at the Sopoti Stadium. The club is named after the nearby Sopot Mountain. They spent the 1992/93, 1993/94, 1995/96 and 1996/97 seasons in the ''Kategoria Superiore''. Before the 1996/97 season, they changed their name back to Albania Tabak Librazhd, only to change it to Sopoti Librazhd once more the next year. Stadium The club's home ground is the multi-use Sopoti Stadium which is situated in the centre of the town next to the municipality building. The stadium which has a capacity of 3,000 spectators was built in 1964 and has been the club's home ever since.
