Sophie and the Giants, also abbreviated as SATG, is an English music group founded in Sheffield in 2015. History Formation and early years (2015–2018) The group was founded by singer Sophie Scott: at first, the only goal of the band was just to practise music with the help of amateur musician friends, but in the spring of 2017 Scott decided to involve drummer Chris Hill, bassist Bailey Stapledon and guitarist Toby Holmes, who were three fellow students at the ''Guildford Music College'' at the time, to "take this more seriously and be like a proper band". They later moved to Sheffield, where they started playing at gigs, mixing cover versions of Supertramp and Chris Isaak with original songs. Italo disco (variously capitalized, and sometimes hyphenated as Italo-disco) is a music genre which originated in Italy in the late 1970s and was mainly produced in the early 1980s. Italo disco evolved from the then-current underground dance, pop, and electronic music, both domestic and foreign (American hi-NRG, French Euro disco) and developed into a diverse genre. Tino Piontek (born 12 February 1980), also known as Tino Schmidt and the stage name Purple Disco Machine, is a German disco and house music producer and DJ. Career Tino Piontek was born in Dresden on 12 February 1980, and grew up in East Germany. In 1996, he started producing with the program Cubase and some synthesizers; at the same time he discovered house music on the Dresden nightlife scene. Maida Vale Studios is a complex of seven BBC sound studios, of which five are in regular use, in Delaware Road, Maida Vale, west London. It has been used to record thousands of classical music, popular music and drama sessions for BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 6 Music from 1946 to the present. Reading And Leeds Festivals
The Reading and Leeds Festivals are a pair of annual music festivals that take place in Reading and Leeds in England. The events take place simultaneously on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the August bank holiday weekend. The Reading Festival is held at Little John's Farm on Richfield Avenue in central Reading, near Caversham Bridge. The Leeds event is held in Bramham Park, near Wetherby, the grounds of a historic house.
