Somontano de Barbastro ( Aragonese: ''Semontano de Balbastro)'' is a comarca in Province of Huesca, Aragon, Spain. Somontano borders the counties of Sobrarbe and Alto Gállego to the north, Ribagorza and La Litera to the east, Cinca Medio to the southwest, the Monegros desert to the south and Hoya de Huesca to the west. As its Latin name suggests, ''Somontano'', meaning "''beneath the mountain''", lies at the foothills of the Pyrenees. The area is abundantly irrigated by four important rivers which flow down from the north: the Alcanadre, Cinca, Ésera and the river Vero. The primary economy of the county has always been agricultural and livestock farming based. Wheat and grains, as well as olives are the primary crops. Its wine production received a '' denominación de origen'' in 1984. The Cinca (; ; an, A Cinca, ) is a river in Aragon, Spain. Its source is in the Circo de Pineta, in the Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park, in the Aragonese Pyrenees. It is a tributary to the Segre River, with its confluence at La Granja d'Escarp, not far from the point where the Segre flows into the Ebro River. The Cinca River flows through a rich agricultural region. Los Monegros is a comarca in Aragon, Spain. It is located within the provinces of Zaragoza and Huesca. The area is prone to chronic droughts, and much of the area is a natural region made up of badlands. The Cinca Medio is a Comarcas of Aragon, comarca in eastern Aragon, Spain. It is named after river Cinca, Aragon, Cinca. La Litera () or La Llitera () ( an, A Litera) is an Aragonese comarca in the south-east of the province of Huesca. Its cultural capital is Tamarite de Litera, its administrative capital is Binefar and it borders the comarques of Ribagorza, Somontano de Barbastro, Cinca Medio, Bajo Cinca in Aragon and Noguera and Segrià in Catalonia.
