Sol Filosofia (album)
''Sol Filosofia'' is the second studio album by Kenyan afro-pop band Sauti Sol. It was released on February 25, 2011 by Penya Records, and launched at the Alliance française in Nairobi. The album's two singles "Soma Kijana" and "Coming Home" also had music videos released, with that of the latter featuring Singles * "Soma Kijana" was released as the album's lead single. It urges all youth to take education seriously and read. The song's genre was inspired by one of Sauti Sol's biggest inspirations, the late Daudi Kabaka. * "Coming Home" was released as the album's second single. A music video for the song was released on 13 April 2011, and featured singer and reality star Patricia Kihoro. In the video, guitarist Polycarp Otieno finds himself rejected by his girlfriend soon after the band returns home from tour, pushing him to take his own life as his fellow band members try to save him. A lead single (also known as a debut single) is the first single to be released from a studio album by an artist or a band, usually before the album itself is released and also occasionally on the same day of the album's release date. Daudi Kabaka
Daudi Kabaka (1939–2001) was a Kenyan vocalist and musician. The type of music he is known for is called Benga, a popular style in East Africa. His best-known songs include "African Twist", "Harambee Harambee" and "Western Shilo". His song " Helule Helule" was covered by The Tremeloes and it became a hit in United Kingdom. Daudi Kabaka is also known for his Kenyan classic "Harambee Harambee" which largely reflects the aspirations of post-colonial Kenya to build their nation. Nairobi ( ) is the capital and largest city of Kenya. Sauti Sol is a Kenyan band formed in Nairobi, Kenya, by vocalists Bien-Aimé Baraza, Willis Chimano and Savara Mudigi in 2005.
