El Sol de América C.A. (also known as Sol América) was a Venezuelan airline headquartered in Caracas. It operated domestic charter services. Its bases were at Simón Bolívar International Airport and Josefa Camejo International Airport. History The airline was established and started operations on September 12, 1980 as an air taxi. On April 8, 2008, it began regular operations between Caracas and Maracaibo to alleviate the deficit on this route, the one with the highest demand in Venezuela after Porlamar. The Britten-Norman Trislander (more formally designated the BN-2A Mk III Trislander) is an 18-seat three-engined piston-powered civilian utility aircraft produced in the 1970s and early 1980s by Britten-Norman of Britain. These STOL capable aircraft were produced on the Isle of Wight. They were also produced in Romania, and delivered via Belgium to Britain for their certification. The British Aerospace Jetstream is a small twin-turboprop airliner, with a pressurised fuselage, developed as the ''Jetstream 31'' from the earlier Handley Page Jetstream. A larger version of the Jetstream was also manufactured, the British Aerospace Jetstream 41.
