Sofia Djama
Sofia Djama is an Algerian film director. Her 2017 feature film debut, ''The Blessed'', won three awards at the Venice Film Festival, including the Brian Award, given to the film which "best champions human rights, democracy, pluralism and freedom of thought", and the Lina Mangiacapre Award for a film which "changes the image of women in the cinema". Djama's second short film, ''Softly One Saturday Morning'' (Mollement, un samedi matin), won two prizes at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in 2012. Her 2017 feature film debut is '' The Blessed'' (Les bienheureux), a coming-of-age story set in Algiers in 2008, starring Sami Bouajila and Nadia Kaci. The Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival (French: ''Festival international du court métrage de Clermont-Ferrand'') is an international film festival dedicated to short films held annually in Clermont-Ferrand, France. History In 1979, a Short Film Week was organised by the Clermont-Ferrand University Film Society. In 1982, the Festival became competitive, with a jury attributing awards to films selected from the recent French short film production. International films were shown in special programs highlighting a particular theme, genre, country or region of the world. Lina Mangiacapre (1946 - 23 May 2002) was an Italian feminist playwright and filmmaker. Life Born Carmela Mangiacapre to an upper-middle-class family in Naples, she became involved with the feminist and radical student movements during the social movements of 1968. She graduated with a degree in philosophy and devoted herself to painting under the pseudonym Màlina.
