Societe Generale de Banque au Liban S.A.L. (SGBL, Arabic: بنك سوسيتيه جنرال في لبنان), founded in 1953, is a Lebanese bank. It is a subsidiary of SGBL Group, which operates in Lebanon, and offers banking services in the Middle East (Lebanon, Jordan), the Gulf (United Arab Emirates) and Europe (Cyprus, France and Monaco). Banque du Liban (BdL, ar, مصرف لبنان, English: Bank of Lebanon) is the central bank of Lebanon. It was established on August 1, 1963, and became fully operational on April 1, 1964. It is currently headed by Riad Salameh. One of the main responsibilities of the bank is issuing Lebanon's currency, the Lebanese Pound.
