Soccer Bowl 2017 is the North American Soccer League's postseason championship match of the 2017 season which determined the NASL Champion. Background Miami FC and San Francisco Deltas finished 1st and 2nd respectively in both the Spring and Fall seasons by wide margins. Miami FC's regular season record (21 wins, 6 draws, 5 losses, 69 points) was the best in modern NASL history. The New York Cosmos clinched the last playoff spot on the last day of the regular season. North Carolina FC also earned a spot in The Championship. Due to Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico FC was forced to abandon Juan Ramón Loubriel Stadium for their last five home games, which were moved to other teams venues or to neutral sites. Soccer Bowl (2011–2017)
The NASL Championship was the annual championship competition of the North American Soccer League (NASL), which formed the second division of American soccer from 2011 to 2017. The competition was held at the end of the regular season and was contested by the two finalists of the playoffs to determine the winner of the NASL Trophy, known as the Soccer Bowl Trophy. The tournament is named for the Soccer Bowl from the original incarnation of the NASL, which ran from 1967 to 1984. The 2011 and 2012 titles were decided in a two-game aggregate finish. Since 2013 the championship has been a single-game final. Beginning with the 2014 season, a new format was introduced, called the NASL Championship, with the final game being called the NASL Championship Final and only the trophy the Soccer Bowl trophy. Eric Santana Calvillo Ramirez (born 2 January 1998) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for USL Championship club El Paso Locomotive. Juan Francisco Guerra Piñero (born 16 February 1987) is a Venezuelan football coach and former player who is currently the head coach of Phoenix Rising FC in the USL Championship. Guerra was the first signing made by the Rowdies' new general manager/head coach combo of Farrukh Quraishi and Thomas Rongen. Ayoze García Pérez (born 22 November 1985), known simply as Ayoze, is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a left-back, currently assistant coach for USL Championship club Indy Eleven. Stéfano Souza Pinho (born 12 January 1991) is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Indy Eleven in the USL Championship. Jaime Chavez (born July 17, 1987 in Industry, California, United States) is an American professional soccer player who plays for USL Championship club OKC Energy.
