Animal slaughter is the killing of animals, usually referring to killing domestic livestock. It is estimated that each year 80 billion land animals are slaughtered for food. Most animals are slaughtered for food; however, they may also be slaughtered for other reasons such as for harvesting of pelts, being diseased and unsuitable for consumption, or being surplus for maintaining a breeding stock. Slaughter typically involves some initial cutting, opening the major body cavities to remove the entrails and offal but usually leaving the carcass in one piece. ''Snuff'' is a 1976 splatter film directed by Michael Findlay and Horacio Fredriksson. Originally an exploitation film loosely based on the 1969 murders committed by the Manson Family, it is most notorious for being falsely marketed as if it were an actual snuff film. Slátur (, "slaughter") is an Icelandic food made from the innards of sheep. There are two types of slátur; ''blóðmör'' (Icelandic) or "blood pudding" and ''lifrarpylsa'' ("liver sausage"). The first is similar to Irish and British black pudding, although it does not contain the spices used in British and Irish cuisine. They are also much smoother in texture. Slaughter (Canadian Band)
Slaughter was a Canadian death metal band. They formed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1984 playing thrash metal and briefly featured Chuck Schuldiner on guitar in 1986. Originally, they released two demos and two full albums. Slaughter was disbanded from 1989 to 1995 but returned in 1996 to record a cover of Celtic Frost's "Dethroned Emperor" for a tribute album called ''In Memory of Celtic Frost''. In 2001, they re-released "Strappado" under the Nuclear Blast label. Slaughter also released a compilation of demos and live tracks under the Nuclear Blast label called ''Not Dead Yet/Paranormal''.
