Slatiňany
Slatiňany () is a town in Chrudim District in the Pardubice Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 4,100 inhabitants. Administrative parts Villages of Kochánovice, Kunčí, Škrovád and Trpišov are administrative parts of Slatiňany. Geography Slatiňany is located about south of Chrudim and south of Pardubice. The eastern part of the municipal territory with the town proper lies in the Svitavy Uplands, the western part lies in the Iron Mountains. The highest point is the hill Hůra at above sea level. The Chrudimka River flows through the town. History The first written mention of Slatiňany is from 1294. A wooden Gothic fortress on a promontory above the Chrudimka was documented in 1371. In the 19th century, during the rule of the noble Auersperg family, the village of Slatiňany economically developed. Chrudim District
Chrudim District ( cs, okres Chrudim) is a district ('' okres'') within Pardubice Region of the Czech Republic. Its capital is the town of Chrudim. Overview The district has mostly flat terrain with slopes of Iron Mountains appearing on the south. Seč Dam is the largest water surface in the district (2.2 km2), Chrudimka is the longest river in the district (104 km). Industrial centres are Chrudim (mechanical engineering, textile, food industry), Hlinsko (electrotechnical, textile) and Skuteč (textile). Climatic conditions and terrain make the area convenient for agriculture. Tourism is concentrated on Seč Dam and historical architecture. Helena Vondráčková
Helena Vondráčková (born 24 June 1947, in Prague) is a Czech people, Czech singer whose career has spanned five decades. Early life/career Beginnings Vondráčková spent her childhood years in the town of Slatiňany. She took piano lessons from an early age. In 1964 Vondráčková came to prominence when she won a national talent contest that 27 April then that 3 September she made her first recording: a Czech rendering of "Red River Valley (song), Red River Valley" entitled "Červená řeka" ("Red River Valley"). Iron Mountains (Czech Republic)
The Iron Mountains (Železné hory) is a mountain range in the Czech Republic, which is a part of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. Their location is in the North of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands. They have an area of 748 km², their average height is 480,8 metres, and their highest peak is Pešava at a height of 697 metres which is located exactly in the Sečská Upland, which is part of the Iron Mountains. But other sources state that the highest peak is Vestec, at a height of 668 metres. Etymology The mountain's name originates from the past metal abundance of the region, as it was the site of many mines of iron. Pardubice Region ( cs, Pardubický kraj; , ; pl, Kraj pardubicki) is an administrative unit ( cs, kraj) of the Czech Republic, located mainly in the eastern part of its historical region of Bohemia, with a small part in northwestern Moravia. It is named after its capital Pardubice. As an administrative unit, Pardubice Region has existed three times in the course of history. A sister city or a twin town relationship is a form of legal or social agreement between two geographically and politically distinct localities for the purpose of promoting cultural and commercial ties. Svitavy Uplands
The Svitavy Uplands or Svitavy Hills ( cs, Svitavská pahorkatina) are uplands and a geomorphological mesoregion of the Czech Republic. It is located in the Pardubice Region and it belongs to the largest mesoregions in the country. Geomorphology The Svitavy Uplands is a mesoregion of the East Bohemian Table within the Bohemian Massif. It is a rugged hilly area with highlands in the eastern part.
