Skallagrímur Women's Basketball
The Skallagrímur women's basketball team, commonly known as Skallagrímur, is the women's basketball department of Ungmennafélagið Skallagrímur, based in Borgarnes, Iceland. It currently plays in Úrvalsdeild kvenna. History Skallagrímur started its women's program in 1958. In 1963, it participated in the national tournament and finished as the runner-up to ÍR. In 1964 it won its first national championship after finishing first in the national tournament. In the championship clinching game, Skallagrímur defeating ÍR 23-22 behind Sigrún Kristjánsdóttir 17 points. In 2016-2017 it finished with the third best record in league, while also making it to the Icelandic Basketball Cup finals where it lost to Keflavík, 65-62. On 15 February 2020, it won the Icelandic Basketball Cup for the first time, defeating KR in the cup finals with Keira Robinson being named the Cup Finals MVP. Borgarnes
Borgarnes () is a town located on a peninsula at the shore of Borgarfjörður in Iceland and is the largest town in the Borgarbyggð municipality with a population of about 3800 residents. 2019–20 Icelandic Women's Basketball Cup
The 2019–2020 Bikarkeppni kvenna, referred to as Geysisbikarinn for sponsorship reasons, was the 46th edition of the Icelandic Women's Basketball Cup, won by Skallagrímur against KR. The competition is managed by the Icelandic Basketball Federation and the final four was held in the Laugardalshöll in Reykjavík during the days of 13–15 February 2020. Kristrún Sigurjónsdóttir (born 14 March 1985) is an Icelandic former basketball player and a former member of the Icelandic national basketball team. During her career, she won the Icelandic championship three times as a member of Haukar. Playing career Kristrún's first senior games where for the joint team of ÍR/ Breiðablik in the second-tier league. After helping ÍR win the league and gain promotion in 2003, she debuted in the top-tier league during the 2003–2004 season where she averaged 10.5 points in 18 games. After ÍR's relegation that season, she transferred to Haukar where she won back-to-back national championships in 2006 and 2007. Guðrún Ósk Ámundadóttir (born 7 May 1987) is an Icelandic basketball basketball coach and player and a former member of the Icelandic national basketball team. As a player, she won the national championship twice and the Icelandic Cup five times. Club career After coming up through the junior programs of Skallagrímur, Guðrún started her senior team career with Haukar in 2003 and helped the team win two national championships and five Icelandic Cups. Fanney Lind Guðmundsdóttir Thomas (born 13 December 1989) is an Icelandic former basketball player. She is a former member of the Icelandic national basketball team. Career Fanney came up through the junior ranks of Hamar, playing her first senior match during the 2007–2008 season. Emilie Sofie Hesseldal (born 21 December 1990) is a Danish professional basketball player and a member of the Danish national basketball team. She won the Danish championship in 2021 as a member of BMS Herlev Wolfpack and in 2022 as a member of AKS Falcon, being named the Finals MVP both years. Ingunn Embla Kristínardóttir (born 27 October 1995) is an Icelandic basketball player. She won the Icelandic championship in 2013 with Keflavík.
