Fanney Lind Thomas
Fanney Lind Guðmundsdóttir Thomas (born 13 December 1989) is an Icelandic former basketball player. She is a former member of the Icelandic national basketball team. Career Fanney came up through the junior ranks of Hamar, playing her first senior match during the 2007–2008 season. She was a key player on the Hamar team that advanced to the 2010 Úrvalsdeild kvenna finals where it lost to KR in five games. In 2011, she joined French club Union Sportive de La Glacerie. She spent the next three seasons with Fjölnir, Hamar and Valur before signing with Þór Akureyri in 1. deild kvenna prior to the 2015-2016 season. She was named to the Domestic All-First Team after averaging 13.4 and 7.9 rebounds per game for the season. In November, 2016, Fanney left Þór Akureyri and joined newly promoted Skallagrímur in the Úrvalsdeild kvenna. In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. Over time, as more specialized roles developed, each of the guards and forwards came to be differentiated, and today each of the five positions are known by unique names, each of which has also been assigned a number: point guard (PG) or 1, the shooting guard (SG) or 2, the small forward (SF) or 3, the power forward (PF) or 4, and the center (C) or 5. Icelandic Women's Basketball Cup
The Icelandic Women's Basketball Cup (Icelandic: Bikarkeppni KKÍ), also known as VÍS bikarinn for sponsorship reasons, is an annual basketball competition between clubs in Iceland. It is Iceland's first-tier cup competition, and is not to be confused with Iceland's former second-tier cup competition, the Company Cup. History and format The first edition of the Icelandic Women's Cup championship took place in 1975, and was won by Þór Akureyri. All the rounds are played with a single game knockout format. The final four and the finals are played on a single weekend. Finally, the winner of the Icelandic Cup championship, or the runner-up if the same team wins both the cup and national championship, will then face the winner of the Úrvalsdeild kvenna championship in a single game to determine the winner of the Icelandic Supercup championship in the beginning of the next season. Murray State Racers Men's Basketball
The Murray State Racers men's basketball program represents Murray State University in intercollegiate men's basketball. Murray State completed a 74-season run in the Ohio Valley Conference, a part of Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), in 2021–22, and moved to the Missouri Valley Conference on July 1, 2022.
