Siyyum
A ''siyum'' ( he, סיום) ("completion"), in Judaism, occasionally spelled siyyum, is the completion of any established unit of Torah study. The most common units are a single volume of the Talmud, or of Mishnah, but there are other units of learning that may lead to a siyum. The typical structure of a siyum event includes a conclusion of the study, reading of the '' Hadran'' text, kaddish, and a celebratory meal. The custom to make a ''siyum'' is first mentioned in the Talmud: "Abaye said: grant me my reward, for when I see a young Torah scholar who has completed a tractate, I make a celebration for the rabbis." A ''seudat mitzvah'' ( he, סעודת מצוה, "commanded meal"), in Judaism, is an obligatory festive meal, usually referring to the celebratory meal following the fulfillment of a ''mitzvah'' (commandment), such as a bar mitzvah, bat mitzvah, a wedding, a ''brit milah'' (ritual circumcision), or a ''siyum'' (completing a tractate of Talmud or Mishnah). ''Seudot'' fixed in the calendar (i.e., for holidays and fasts) are also considered ''seudot mitzvah'', but many have their own, more commonly used names. Rashbam
Samuel ben Meir (Troyes, c. 1085 – c. 1158), after his death known as "Rashbam", a Hebrew acronym for RAbbi SHmuel Ben Meir, was a leading French Tosafist and grandson of Shlomo Yitzhaki, "Rashi". Biography He was born in the vicinity of Troyes, in around 1085 in France to his father Meir ben Shmuel and mother Yocheved, daughter of Rashi. Nissim Of Gerona
Nissim ben Reuven (1320 – 9th of Shevat, 1376, he, נִסִּים בֶּן רְאוּבֵן) of Girona, Catalonia was an influential talmudist and authority on Jewish law. He was one of the last of the great Spanish medieval Talmudic scholars. He is also known by his Hebrew acronym, the RaN (), or else with the definite article HaRaN (), as well as by the name RaNbaR (), the Hebrew acronym of his full name, including his father's name, Reuven (), and also by Nissim Gerondi. Joseph ibn Habiba ( he, יוסף חביבא), also known as Joseph Havivah and Nimmukei Yosef, after the title of his book, was a Spanish Talmudist who flourished in the 14th and 15th centuries.
