''Sirayil Pootha Chinna Malar'' () is a 1990 Indian Tamil-language action drama film, directed by Amirtham and produced by M. Gopi. The film stars Vijayakanth, Bhanupriya, Shanthipriya and Rajesh. The film had musical score by Ilaiyaraaja. It was released on 20 July 1990. Plot Muthappa, a poor singer falls in love with the sister of a cruel landlord Rajalingam. After surviving a murder attempt, Muthappa marries his ladylove. He is shocked to learn that Rajalingam has had a change of heart thereby accepting the relation. However, that night Muttappa and his wife are shifted to a secret and separate prisons by her brother, an evil landlord in such a way that they can never meet each other. After the incident he forbids love in the village and also closes the temple where his sister's marriage was conducted. People forget the presumably dead Muthappa. Narayanan Vijayaraj Alagarswami (born 25 August 1952), better known by his stage name Vijayakanth, is an Indian politician and former actor who has worked predominantly in Tamil cinema. He was the Leader of the Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 2011 to 2016. Before entering politics Vijayakanth was a successful actor, producer and director. Vijayakanth is also the current DMDK chairman of Tamil Nadu legislative assembly. Pulavar Pulamaipithan (6 October 1935 – 8 September 2021) was an Indian scholar, poet and lyricist who got recognition through the song "Naan yaar nee yaar" which was featured in the Tamil film ''Kudiyirundha Koyil'' in 1968. He briefly served as the presidium chairman of AIADMK from 2002 to 2003, when he resigned citing ill-health. Biography Pulamaipithan was born in Irugur, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu on 6 October 1935.
