Siraj Region
Saraz or Siraj is a hilly region in Jammu and Kashmir, northern India. Historically a '' pargana'' within the erstwhile state of Kishtwar, the region currently takes up the northern half of Doda district and parts of neighbouring Ramban and Kishtwar districts. Its population in 2011 stood at people. The region is defined mainly on the basis of linguistics where the majority of people speak Sarazi as their mother tongue. About and Demographics Saraz is a rural area, located on right bank of Chenab river which includes its district headquarter Doda district. The areas on the left bank of river are geographically located in Bhaderwah area. Saraz is a large area, known for Sarazi dialect spoken here. It includes various villages such as Rajgarh, Ganika, Bhagwah, Dessa, Kashtigarh, Koti, Bhangra, Bijarani, Mohalla, Kulhand, Malwana, Jodhpur, Babor, Jatheli, Bharat and Udayanpur. Siraj (director)
Siraj (1952 – 24 July 2017) was an Indian film director, who worked in Tamil cinema. Career Throughout his career, he remained a close acquaintance to actor Ramarajan. In 1999, Siraj worked on the multi-starrer film ''Suyamvaram ''Suyamvaram'' () is a 1999 Indian Tamil-language comedy drama film starring an ensemble cast from actors in the Tamil film industry and shot by a large technical team from the industry. The film was planned by Giridharilal Nagpal who produced a ...'' (1999), also being responsible for the film's screenplay. In 2014, Siraj was working on a film titled ''Minnal'' and cast NRI actress Angana Adya in dual lead roles, giving her an extra character after being impressed with her performance. Phani Sarma
Phani Sarma (1910–1970) was an Indian theatre actor, playwright, film actor and director. Beginning as a stage actor, he appeared in the first film ever made in Assamese cinema, '' Joymati'', in 1935. Sarma was conferred with the title "Natasurya" for his contribution towards Assamese drama. He acted in and directed ''Siraj'' in 1948 and ''Piyoli Phukan'' in 1955. Film career In 1933 Phani Sarma starred in the first Assamese film, '' Joymati,'' directed by Jyoti Prasad Agarwala. Sarma went on the star in Agarwalla's second picture ''Indramalati''. In 1955 he directed and starred in ''Piyoli Phukan'', also playing the film's protagonist Pioli Phukan.
