Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize
The Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize (also Jury Grand Prix, Grand Prize of the Jury) is an award given by the jury at the Berlin International Film Festival to one of the feature films in competition. Berlin International Film Festival
The Berlin International Film Festival (german: Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin), usually called the Berlinale (), is a major international film festival held annually in Berlin, Germany. Founded in 1951 and originally run in June, the festival has been held every February since 1978 and is one of the " Big Three" alongside the Venice Film Festival in Italy and the Cannes Film Festival in France. Tens of thousands of visitors attend each year. About 400 films are shown at multiple venues across Berlin, mostly in and around Potsdamer Platz. They are screened in nine sections across cinematic genres, with around twenty films competing for the festival's top awards in the Competition section. The major awards, called the Golden Bear and Silver Bears, are decided on by the international jury, chaired by an internationally recognisable cinema personality. ''There's No Smoke Without Fire'' (french: Il n'y a pas de fumée sans feu) is a 1973 French-Italian thriller film directed by André Cayatte. It was entered into the 23rd Berlin International Film Festival where it won the Silver Bear Special Jury Prize. Plot In the Paris suburb of Chavigny, Joseph Boussard (André Falcon) holds political office in the lead up to an election. When a campaigner for the opposition is killed, the respected Dr. Peyrac (Bernard Fresson) decides to contest the election. One of Boussard's aides obtains and circulates a doctored photograph of Peyrac's wife, Sylvie (Annie Girardot), engaged in group sex at the home of their friends, the Leroys. Peyrac calls for the authenticity of the photograph to be validated but is shut down. The photographer who produced the fake is murdered; Peyrac is accused for the crime and imprisoned. The Hospital
''The Hospital'' is a 1971 American satirical film directed by Arthur Hiller and starring George C. Scott as Dr. Herbert Bock. It was written by Paddy Chayefsky, who was awarded the 1972 Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Chayefsky also narrates the film and was one of the producers; he had complete control over the casting and content of the film. Plot At a Manhattan teaching hospital, the life of Dr. Bock, the Chief of Medicine, is in disarray: he has left his wife, his children don't talk to him, and his once-beloved teaching hospital is falling apart. The Decameron (1971 Film)
''The Decameron'' ( it, Il Decameron) is a 1971 anthology film written and directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini, based on the 14th-century allegory by Giovanni Boccaccio. It is the first film of Pasolini's ''Trilogy of Life'', the others being ''The Canterbury Tales'' and ''Arabian Nights''. Each film was an adaptation of a different piece of classical literature focusing on ribald and often irreligious themes. The tales contain abundant nudity, sex, slapstick and scatological humour. Pasolini's intention was not to faithfully recreate the world of Boccaccio's characters but to criticise the contemporary world through metaphorical use of the themes present in the stories. Stories are often changed to southern Italy and heavy use of the Neapolitan dialect is used to signify the mistreatment and economic exploitation of the poorer region by the richer northern parts of Italy.
