''Sillion'' is the fourth studio album by British singer-songwriter Johnny Flynn, released in 2017 through Transgressive Records. The album reached no. 96 in the UK. Background ''Sillion'' was Flynn's first studio album since 2013's ''Country Mile''. In the interim, Flynn was increasingly active as an actor. The record was recorded at Soup Studio in London. Flynn has said that the album was influenced strongly by this personal life: The track "Heart Sunk Hank", which explores Flynn's relationship with his wife, was inspired by the folk song "Fare Thee Well". The song was also partially recorded on a 1940s Voice-o-Graph, giving it a unique sound and making it the "record's highlight" per Rhian Daly of ''DIY''. The album was recorded with members of his backing band The Sussex Wit and was announced in conjunction with a tour, as well as the release of a single "The Lady is Risen". ''Lost in the Cedar Wood'' is the fifth studio album by British singer-songwriter Johnny Flynn, released on 14 May 2021 through Transgressive Records. The album is a collaboration between Flynn and British nature writer Robert Macfarlane. Background Flynn and Macfarlane collaborated to make ''Lost in the Cedar Wood'' beginning in the first half of 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. In an interview, Flynn noted that much of the writing was done separately, with communication with Macfarlane via WhatsApp, due to COVID lockdown restrictions. The album is loosely based on the ''Epic of Gilgamesh'', aiming to compare the themes of the ancient work with the modern world in the context of the pandemic. Fare Thee Well (song)
"Fare Thee Well" (sometimes known as "The Turtle Dove") is an 18th-century English folk ballad, listed as number 422 in the Roud Folk Song Index. In the song, a lover bids farewell before setting off on a journey, and the lyrics include a dialogue between the lovers. History The first published version of the song appeared in ''Roxburghe Ballads'' dated 1710; the lyrics were there given the title "The True Lover's Farewell". The song was traditionally sung to a range of different tunes. In 1907, the composer and folk-song scholar Ralph Vaughan Williams recorded David Penfold, an innkeeper from Rusper, Sussex, singing "Turtle Dove", and the recording is available online via the British Library Sound Archive. Lyrical content "Fare Thee Well" shares several lyrics which parallel those of Robert Burns's "A Red, Red Rose". Metacritic is a website that review aggregator, aggregates reviews of films, TV shows, music albums, video games and formerly, books. For each product, the scores from each review are averaged (a weighted arithmetic mean, weighted average). Metacritic was created by Jason Dietz, Marc Doyle, and Julie Doyle Roberts in 1999. The site provides an excerpt from each review and hyperlinks to its source. A color of green, yellow or red summarizes the critics' recommendations. It is regarded as the foremost online review aggregation site for the video game industry.
