Signe Svendsen
Signe Svendsen (born 16 October 1974) is a Danish singer. She took part in Eurovision Song Contest 2001 with the duo formation Rollo & King singing "Never Ever Let You Go" that was runner-up in the competition. She has developed a solo career with release of two albums. Career Svendsen graduated from Nyborg Gymnasium and Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium in 1998. She gained fame through her participation in Eurovision Song Contest in 2001. She continued on with a solo career and toured with Niels Hausgaard in 2007-2010 releasing ''Ny passager'', her debut solo album in 2010. She wrote or co-wrote eight of the ten titles of the album. She promoted the album with a tour later releasing recordings from the tour in her 2011 album ''Live 2010''. In June 2012, she released the single "Din Sang" (meaning Your Song) from her second album ''Kun de faldne rejser sig igen'' on 9 September 2013 that reached Top 3 in Tracklisten, the official Danish Albums Chart. Eurovision Song Contest 2001
The Eurovision Song Contest 2001 was the 46th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, following the country's victory at the with the song " Fly on the Wings of Love" by Olsen Brothers. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Danmarks Radio (DR), the contest was held at the Parken Stadium on 12 May 2001. The contest was presented by Danish television presenter Natasja Crone Back and actor Søren Pilmark. Twenty-three countries took part in the contest. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, and Slovenia returned after their relegation from the previous edition. Greece also returned after their two-year absence, following financial trouble. Meanwhile, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Finland, Macedonia, Romania, and Switzerland were relegated. Rollo & King
Rollo & King was a Denmark, Danish group, formed by Søren Poppe and Stefan Nielsen (musician), Stefan Nielsen, who represented Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001. The two men named themselves after two dog names. They topped the charts with their first album ''Midt i en løbetid'' which stayed in the charts for 13 weeks in 2000–2001. Before Søren Poppe got famous with the band, he was a teacher in a school in Valby, in Copenhagen teaching music and mathematics. Eurovision Danmarks Radio invited them to enter the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix in 2001. They won with their song ''Der står et billede af dig på mit bord'' (literal translation, "There's a picture of you on my desk"). Together with female singer, Signe Svendsen, who had joined the group, they performed the song (translated into English as "Never Ever Let You Go") at the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 and received 177 points ranked second out of 23 entries. The song represented Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 after winning ''Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2001'', Denmark's national final for the Eurovision Song Contest. Background The song is from the perspective of a man who has lost his lover. He pleads with her to return and promises that he will "never ever let you go". Production Originally, the band had planned to enter the ''Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2001'' with a song called "Den eneste ene". However, the song was rejected by Mega Records, with the director saying "it's shit". In a week, the band found an unfinished idea called "Der står et billede af dig på mit bord", which the director approved.
