Shōji Hayashi
(23 September 1928 – 30 November 2011) was a Japanese architect. As chief architect of Nikken Sekkei, Nikken Sekkei, Ltd., he designed many notable buildings, including the Palaceside Building in Tokyo, which was selected as one of 20 works of modern Japanese architecture by Docomomo Japan. He was chairman of the Japan Institute of Architects (1990–1992) and an honorary fellow of the American Institute of Architects. Career Hayashi was born in Tokyo. He studied architecture under Seike Kiyoshi at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. After graduating in 1953, he joined Nikken Sekkei, Japan's largest independent architectural design firm, where he was chief architect for many years and later Vice President and Vice Chairman. Nikken Sekkei (日建設計) is an architectural, planning and engineering firm from Japan, with headquarters in Chiyoda, Tokyo. Today (2019), Nikken Sekkei ranks as the second largest architectural practice in the world. Docomomo International (sometimes written as DoCoMoMo or simply Docomomo) is a non-profit organization whose full title is: International Committee for Documentation and Conservation of Buildings, Sites and Neighbourhoods of the Modern Movement. Mrinalini Rajagopalan, author of "Preservation and Modernity: Competing Perspectives, Contested Histories and the Question of Authenticity," described it as "the key body for the preservation of modernist architecture". The is the government building for Bunkyo ward in Tokyo, Japan. Its 25th floor houses a free observation deck. The building was completed in 1994. It has been described as a "colossal Pez candy dispenser" by ''The Japan Times''. The building is near the Tokyo Dome, Tokyo Dome Hotel, Tokyo Dome City, and Tokyo Dome City Attractions. History Bunkyo Civic Center stands on the former site of the Bunkyo City Hall (), which opened in April 1959. This was the venue for the first Japan Record Awards. Pola Museum Of Art
is located in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It opened in September 2002 within Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. It houses the collection of over 9,500 works acquired by the former head of the Pola cosmetics group, including many works of French Impressionism and of the École de Paris. The striking building is by Nikken Sekkei. is an architect from Japan, known for his modern-style buildings. His work includes projects in other countries. He is the principal architect at Hiroshi Naito Architect & Associates in Tokyo. He is Professor emeritus at the University of Tokyo and President of Tama Art University Life and career Naito was born in 1950 in Yokohama, Japan.
