Shrag
Shrag were a British post-punk-influenced indie pop band, based in London and Brighton. The band released three albums on the Where It's at Is Where You Are label, the last a joint release on Fortuna Pop! Formation and early years Shrag's first release was the home-recorded song "Punk Grammar", which debuted on ''Under The Beach, A Heart Attack'' – a 2003 compilation album and fanzine of Brighton bands, put together by local club night It Came From The Sea, and featuring a foreword by the then Brighton-based music critic Everett True. The fanzine tells the story of Shrag's formation in a comic book format. At the tail-end of a party in Brighton's Sussex Heights residential tower block, the remaining five revellers – made up of local DJs, promoters, academics and musicians – decide to start a band, named Sussex Heights Roving Artists Group. Tunabunny
Tunabunny are an indie rock band from Athens, Georgia, US, formed in 2008. Biography Tunabunny were formed in 2008 by Brigette Herron, Scott Creney, Mary Jane Hassell and Chloe Tewksbury. Following a split single (with Hulaboy) in 2009, Tunabunny released their eponymous debut album in 2010, issued as with their subsequent records by Athens label Happy Happy Birthday to Me Records. Second album ''Minima Moralia'' was released the following year to positive reviews, including from ''Razorcake''. Tewksbury was replaced by new drummer Jesse Stinnard in time for a UK tour with Shrag in 2012 which saw the release of a split single between the two bands, a joint release on the Fortuna Pop! label. Third album ''Genius Fatigue'' followed, and was praised by ''Drowned in Sound'', ''The Line of Best Fit'' and AllMusic. Fortuna Pop!
Fortuna POP! was an English independent record label based in London, started in 1995 by Sean Price. It specialised in indie pop music. Fortuna POP! previously promoted gigs under the banner of The Beat Hotel and then Basement Scam at the Buffalo Bar in Highbury, London and then promoted events under their own name. The label has been called an "indie institution". On 31 July 2016, initially via a full page statement in the programme of that summer's Indietracks festival, the label announced that it was to be shut down. The label was home to both previously established underground acts, such as Darren Hayman, the Wave Pictures and Comet Gain, and breakthrough bands such as the Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Evans the Death and the Spook School. Andy Miller (record Producer)
Andy Miller is a Scottish record producer based in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Miller is noted for his production on albums by Mogwai, Life Without Buildings, Arab Strap, The Delgados, Scout Niblett, Songs: Ohia, Sons And Daughters, De Rosa and Desert Hearts. He is freelance, he now works at Gargleblast Studio in Hamilton, but has mainly worked at Chem19 studios over the last ten years. Having recorded many early tracks by seminal Scottish post-rock band Mogwai in the mid-1990s, he has now recorded their album ''The Hawk Is Howling'', which was released in September 2008. In 2003, Miller co-founded the Lanarkshire-based independent record label, Gargleblast Records. Indie Pop
Indie pop (also typeset as indie-pop or indiepop) is a music genre and subculture that combines guitar pop with DIY ethic in opposition to the style and tone of mainstream pop music. It originated from British post-punk in the late 1970s and subsequently generated a thriving fanzine, Independent record label, label, and club and gig circuit. Compared to its counterpart, indie rock, the genre is more melodic, less abrasive, and relatively angst-free. ''Drowned in Sound'', sometimes abbreviated to ''DiS'', is a UK-based music webzine financed by artist management company Silentway. Founded by editor Sean Adams, the site features reviews, news, interviews, and discussion forums. History ''DiS'' began as an email fanzine in 1998 called ''The Last Resort'' but was relaunched by founder and editor Sean Adams as ''Drowned in Sound'' in 2000. BBC Radio 6 Music is a British digital radio station owned and operated by the BBC, specialising primarily in alternative music. BBC 6 Music was the first national music radio station to be launched by the BBC in 32 years. Maida Vale Studios is a complex of seven BBC sound studios, of which five are in regular use, in Delaware Road, Maida Vale, west London. It has been used to record thousands of classical music, popular music and drama sessions for BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 6 Music from 1946 to the present. On 30 October 2009, BBC Radio 1 celebrated ''75 Years of Maida Vale'' by exclusively playing 75 tracks recorded at the studios over the years.
