Shocking Pinks
Shocking Pinks is the project of singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Nick Harte from New Zealand. History Founded in Christchurch, New Zealand, Nick Harte has played in many New Zealand bands such as the CM Ensemble, Hiatus, The Incisions, Montessouri, Laudanum, Palace of Wisdom, Luxor Dance Ensemble, Urinator, Solaa, The Brunettes, and Pig Out. Harte & McDonald performed a Shocking Pinks gig at the Media Club in his hometown of Christchurch in December, 2003. This performance was attended by Tim Baird who ran local label Pinacolada Records; Baird subsequently funded and released the original version of the Shocking Pinks' debut album 'Dance the Dance Electric' on 14 February 2004. This release featured a full-band lineup and introduced Harte's sound, which nodded to the sound of classic New Zealand bands such as The Clean and The Bats, as well as My Bloody Valentine's shoegaze sounds, and a budding dance-punk scene. A Low Hum
A Low Hum is the ongoing project founded by photographer and music impresario Blink (born Ian Jorgensen), and is based in Wellington, New Zealand. Under the umbrella A LOW HUM, Blink organises tours, releases records, makes music videos, organises one-off events/festivals and publishes magazines and books. As of 2009, A Low Hum has organised and supported tours for over seventy musical acts from New Zealand, United States, Australia and beyond. In 2006, tours occurred every month and comprised between two and four rising Kiwi bands who played venues and gigs in about a dozen New Zealand locales along the way. In conjunction with each tour, A Low Hum published an A5 magazine, usually including a feature album or EP (often unreleased material by bands) and a music compilation CD with songs by local and international acts. Pinacolada Records
Pinacolada Records is an independent record label based in Christchurch, New Zealand. Run by Tim Baird, the label is notable for releasing the debut album from DFA Records artist the Shocking Pinks, as well the acclaimed debut albums by Pig Out and the Tiger Tones. The seventh release on the label was put out late April 2008 and was the self-titled debut album from Christchurch group Tiger Tones. The label went into hiatus after this seventh release. since gaining his PhD, Baird is now a Lecturer of Marketing at Lincoln University in Christchurch, and is also one of the founding members of online Christchurch-based independent radio station 8K (located at www.8k.nz). The Enright House
The Enright House was the moniker under which Mark Roberts wrote, recorded and performed music. The project began in Chicago in 2001, and, after Roberts moved to New Zealand, was based in Christchurch from 2004 until 2009. After touring the United States in early 2009, Roberts relocated back to America and currently resides in Brooklyn, New York. In 2011, Roberts announced that he was retiring The Enright House to focus on his new project, We Are Temporary. Whilst in New Zealand, The Enright House performed in various formations, including solo performances, duos, trios, and, at one point, even a four-piece live band, including Simon Gemmill (drums/percussion), Evan Schaare (synthesisers) and Thomas Lambert (guitar). The D4
The D4 was a rock band from Auckland, New Zealand. Their music was released by Hollywood Records in the U.S., Flying Nun Records in New Zealand and by Infectious Records in the UK. The group was assembled by vocalist/ guitarists Dion Palmer and Jimmy Christmas, who put together a collection of songs and built a four-piece combo, featuring founding members English Jake and Rich Mixture, during late 1998 and started playing at the Frisbee Leisure Lounge parties along Symonds Street, followed shortly thereafter by inner city pub gigs. In geology, eluvium or eluvial deposits are those geological deposits and soils that are derived by ''in situ'' weathering or weathering plus gravitational movement or accumulation. The process of removal of materials from geological or soil horizons is called eluviation or leaching. There is a difference in the usage of this term in geology and soil science.
