Shi Jiayi
Shi Jiayi ( born 2 September 1983) is a naturalized Singaporean former footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Born in Shanghai, China, Shi started his career at Shanghai state's Football Academy. He moved to Singaporean's Sinchi FC in 2003. He made an immediate impact with the Young Lions after joining from Sinchi FC during the mid-season transfer window in 2004. A positive, hardworking midfielder, his performances earned him a nomination for the S.League Young Player of the Year award that season. He plays for Home United FC is captain as of 2011 season. After the end of the 2012 S.League season, Shi signed for the protector's uniform rivals - Warriors FC. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) section of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification saw 43 teams competing for 4 or 5 berths in the final tournament in Brazil. As in recent tournaments the AFC had four direct qualifiers for the finals tournament in addition to a further possible place via the intercontinental play-offs against CONMEBOL's fifth-placed team, which was chosen through a random draw, rather than being decided by FIFA beforehand as in previous tournaments (e.g., 2010 against a team from OFC, 2006 against a team from CONCACAF). The 40th King's Cup finals was held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand from 17 January until 23 January. The King's Cup is an international football competition held in Thailand. This edition featured four teams and reverted to a round robin group stage. Sweden was initially due to take part in the competition but later withdrew, thus being replaced by North Korea, who also later withdrew. They were replaced by Singapore. The 2008 AFF Championship was the seventh edition of the tournament. It was primarily sponsored by Suzuki and therefore officially known as the 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup. The group stage was held in Indonesia and Thailand from 5 to 10 December 2008. Two-legged home-and-away semi-finals and finals were held between 16 and 28 December 2008. Singapore were the defending champions, but were eliminated by Vietnam in the semi-finals. Vietnam won the tournament by a 3–2 victory in the two-legged final against Thailand to win their first title.
