Sheffield Sabres
Sheffield Elite is an English basketball club and academy from Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Elite compete in the English Basketball League, Division 3 North and the team's head coach is Peter Scantlebury. History Sabres (2001–2021) The Sabres entered NBL Division 2 North in 2001, effectively as a "spin off" second team for the Sheffield Sharks.who played in the BBL. The team initially struggled, finishing bottom of the league twice. With close links to Sheffield Hallam University, they had problems with matches near the start and end of terms, and during busy periods such as exams. English Basketball League
The National Basketball League, or NBL for short, is a league competition representing semi-professional and amateur basketball clubs from England and Wales. It forms levels 2 to 4 on the British basketball pyramid, in line with the Scottish Basketball Championship, sitting directly below the top tier British Basketball League. Peter Scantlebury
Peter Scantlebury Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, MBE (born 21 November 1963) is a former international professional basketball player who was capped 131 times for England. Scantlebury began his playing career in 1981 with Guildford. He scored 9,502 points and won nine British Basketball League winners' medals in his National League career. He made his debut for England in 1986 and scored 1,069 points in an international career that lasted until 2002. He was appointed an Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, MBE in 2002 for his services to basketball. The Sheffield College is a large general further education college in Sheffield, England. The college has six campuses across the city and has 13,500 students enrolled (including 2,501 apprentices) as of 2021.
