"Sheena Is a Parasite" is the debut single by English rock band the Horrors, released in April 2006 by Loog Records. Content The title and content were adapted from the Ramones single "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker" as well as the Cramps' "Sheena's in a Goth Gang", and chronicled the demise of punk music and its cultural influence. The B-side is a cover of the Screaming Lord Sutch song "Jack the Ripper". Release It did not chart, as it contained both stickers and inserts, therefore breaking chart rules. Music video The music video was directed by Chris Cunningham, ending a seven-year music video hiatus for the much respected Cunningham, who admitted to being "mildly obsessed" with the track after coming across it on MySpace. Following several Aphex Twin videos in Cunningham's filmography, the video was expected to be suitably twisted and quirky. The Horrors
The Horrors are an English rock band formed in Southend-on-Sea in 2005, consisting of lead vocalist Faris Badwan, guitarist Joshua Hayward, keyboardist and synthesizer player Tom Furse, bassist Rhys Webb, and drummer and percussionist Joe Spurgeon. Their music has been classified as garage rock, garage punk, gothic rock, shoegaze and post-punk revival. Chris Cunningham
Chris Cunningham (born 15 October 1970) is a British video artist and music video director, best known for his music videos for electronic musicians such as Autechre, Squarepusher, and most notably Aphex Twin on videos for "Windowlicker" and " Come to Daddy", and Björk's "All is Full of Love". All were used in Chris' chapter in Director's Label. He has also created art installations and directed short movies. Screaming Lord Sutch (10 November 1940 – 16 June 1999), who had his name legally changed from David Edward Sutch, was an English musician and perennial parliamentary candidate. He was the founder of the Official Monster Raving Loony Party and served as its leader from 1983 to 1999, during which time he stood in numerous parliamentary elections. He holds the record for contesting the most Parliamentary elections, standing in 39 elections from 1963 to 1997.
