Shane Bowes
Shane Bowes (born 4 March 1969, Adelaide, South Australia) is a former motorcycle speedway rider. Bowes was a finalist in the 1990 Individual Speedway Junior World Championship, 1990 Under-21 Speedway World Championship, finishing in eighth place. He also rode in the United Kingdom between 1987 and 1997, most notably spending seven seasons with the Glasgow Tigers (speedway), Glasgow Tigers. Career United Kingdom Shane Bowes first rode in the United Kingdom when he signed with the Newcastle Diamonds in 1987. He then moved on to the Glasgow Tigers in 1988 where he made his UK home for the next six years, winning both the British League Division Two and the British League Division Two Knockout Cup, Division Two KO Cup in 1993. Bowes left Glasgow for Reading Racers, Reading in 1994 but returned to the Tigers in 1995. Gillman Speedway
Gillman Speedway (sometimes called Gillman Speedway Stadium) is a purpose built, long motorcycle speedway located in the Adelaide suburb of Gillman in South Australia. The track opened in 1998 and runs approximately 13 meetings per season from October to March/April. Gillman Speedway is currently managed and promoted by former Rowley Park Speedway Sidecar racer David Parker. Australian Solo Championship
The Australian Solo Championship is a motorcycle speedway championship held each year to determine the Australian national champion. It is organised by Motorcycling Australia (MA) and is the oldest continuously running national speedway championship in the world having been run since 1926 with the exception of 1942-1945 when racing was suspended during World War II and 1955-1961 when the championship was not held. The first Australian Solo Championship in 1926 was held at the Newcastle Showground in Newcastle. It was won by American rider Cecil Brown from Mick Brennan and Roy Hindle. Legendary Danish rider Ole Olsen (1976) and Australia's own Jason Crump (2007) are the only riders who have won the championship while being the reigning Speedway World Champion.
