Shahyan Tahseen
Shahyan Tahseen (Kurdish: شه‌هیان ته‌حسین), also transliterated as Şehyan Tehsîn, (born 30 June 1988), is a Kurdish news anchor and TV presenter. She was born in the city of Duhok in Iraqi Kurdistan. She started her career at the age of 11 as a presenter in children's programs on Kurdistan TV. During her studies at the University of Duhok, she hosted ''Tik Tak Show'', a social awareness-raising program on Kurdistan TV about youth and community interests. Career Television Shahyan was a presenter of the Kurdistan TV show ''Beyani Bash Kurdistan'' (به‌یانی باش كوردستان, Good Morning Kurdistan) for six years. She also had her own program on Kurdistan TV, ''Tik Tak Show'', a social awareness-raising program about Kurdish youth, community, and their interests. Duhok ( ku, دهۆک, translit=Dihok; ar, دهوك, Dahūk; syr, ܒܝܬ ܢܘܗܕܪܐ, Beth Nohadra) is a city in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It's the capital city of Duhok Governorate. History The city's origin dates back to the Stone Age, and it became part of the Assyrian Empire, then the Babylonian Empire before it fell into the hands of Achaemenid Empire after the Fall of Babylon, and subsequently fell into the hands of Alexander the Great and the Romans. It became an important center of Syriac Christianity where it was known as "ܒܝܬ ܢܘܗܕܪܐ" ''Beth Nohdry'', before fading out after the conquests of Mesopotamia by Tamerlane. According to Evliya Çelebi, the city was initially called ''Dohuk-e Dasinya,'' named after the militant Dasini tribe who were believers of Yazidism. Kurdistan TV ( ku, کوردستان تیڤی) is the first satellite television station in Iraqi Kurdistan that started broadcasting in 1999. It belongs to the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and is based in Erbil, Kurdistan Region. The channel broadcasts programs mainly in Kurdish and can be viewed using a WS International satellite system. It transmits on the Eutelsat for Europe, Western Asia and North Africa, and on Galaxy 19 for North America. Rudaw Media Network (, or ), is a media group in Kurdistan Region, Iraq. It publishes in Sorani, Kurmanji, English, Arabic and Turkish. Rudaw Media Network also owns a weekly newspaper in the Sorani dialect with a circulation of 3,000, a Kurmanji version published in Europe, a website in Kurdish, English, Arabic and Turkish and a satellite TV station.
