Jalalpur–Gujrat Road
The Jalalpur–Gujrat Road is a highway running between the Pakistani cities of Gujrat and Jalalpur Jattan. It connects Gujrat with Jalalpure Jattan, Tanda, Chamb Azad Kashmir. Gujrat is disengaged with north by a rivulet on its northern border whereas Jalalpur Jattan is detached with south by another rivulet on its southern border. In between these two cities are villages of Moin Ud Din Pur, Sook Kalan, Sook Khurd, Shah Jahanian, Kala Chak, Hardas Pur, Kot Ameer Hussain, Hafiz Hayat, Hayat Garh, Ikhlas Garh, Maroof, and Kheewa etc. The road connects these villages with the district. The main campus of University of Gujrat and Nawaz Sharif Medical College located in Hafiz Hayat, are connected with Gujrat through this road. Fixed telephony The area codes in Pakistan consists of two to five digits; generally smaller the city, longer the prefix. All large cities have two-digit codes. The smaller towns might have six digital whereas big cities have seven digit numbers. Azad Kashmir telephone lines contain five digits. On 1 July 2009, telephone numbers in Karachi and Lahore were changed from seven digits to eight digits. This was accomplished by adding 9 to the beginning of all phone numbers that started with a 9 i.e. government and semi-government lines and adding 3 to all other lines. Pakistan Standard Time ( ur, , abbreviated as PKT) is UTC+05:00 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time. The time zone is in use during standard time in Asia. History Pakistan had been following UTC+05:30 since 1907 (during the British Raj) and continued using it after independence in 1947. On 15 September 1951, following the findings of mathematician Mahmood Anwar, two time zones were introduced. Gujrat ( Punjabi and ur, ) is a city in the Punjab Province of Pakistan. It is the capital of Gujrat District and it is the 21st largest city of Pakistan by population. Along with the nearby cities of Sialkot and Gujranwala, Gujrat forms part of the ''Golden Triangle'' of industrial cities with export-oriented economies. History The area around Gujrat was settled during the reign of the Suri ruler Sher Shah prior to the Mughals. The area was named ''Khwaspur,'' in honour of Suri's Governor of Rohtas, Khwas Khan. Local traditions state that Gujrat is the second town to be built in the area, with the first having been destroyed by Mongol invasions in 1303.
