Jalalpur–Gujrat Road
The Jalalpur–Gujrat Road is a highway running between the Pakistani cities of Gujrat and Jalalpur Jattan. It connects Gujrat with Jalalpure Jattan, Tanda, Chamb Azad Kashmir. Gujrat is disengaged with north by a rivulet on its northern border whereas Jalalpur Jattan is detached with south by another rivulet on its southern border. In between these two cities are villages of Moin Ud Din Pur, Sook Kalan, Sook Khurd, Shah Jahanian, Kala Chak, Hardas Pur, Kot Ameer Hussain, Hafiz Hayat, Hayat Garh, Ikhlas Garh, Maroof, and Kheewa etc. The road connects these villages with the district. The main campus of University of Gujrat and Nawaz Sharif Medical College located in Hafiz Hayat, are connected with Gujrat through this road. Jalalpur Jattan
Jalalpur Jattan ( pnb, , ur, ) is a city in Gujrat District in the province of Punjab (Pakistan), Punjab, Pakistan. It is the centre of Jalalpur Jattan Tehsil and about 50 km from Azad Kashmir, Kashmir. History When Alexander the Great defeated King Porus, he established two towns: one near the Jehlum River, and another near the Chenab River. The latter, present-day Jalalpur Jattan was named ''Shaklanagar'', an amalgamation of Greek and Sanskrit words meaning "the city of beauty". These cities were settled by people from Alexander's multinational armies, which included a majority of Greeks. These Indo-Greek cities and their associated realms thrived long after Alexander's departure. Later, when Jalal ud din Firuz Khalji and his forces stayed here to suppress the invasion of Mongols, he renamed the city Jalalabad after himself.
