Shahied Wagid Hosain
Mohamed Shahied Wagid Hosain (9 January 1962 – 21 March 2021) was a Surinamese singer and musician. He was best known for covering Bollywood songs originated by Mohammed Rafi. Career Mohamed Shahied Wagid Hosain was born in Magenta, Koewarasan, Suriname on 9 January 1962. When he was 10 years old, his family moved to Utrecht in the Netherlands; they moved again two years later to The Hague. Many members of his family were musicians: his father Josief and uncle Poeti would sing Bollywood songs and Baithak Gana. In 1977, his uncle Hafizkhan formed a band called Mastana with six other musicians (four from the Wagid Hosain family) to perform at functions. Hafizkhan then recruited Wagid Hosain as drummer although Wagid Hosain had never played before. After a few lessons and intensive practice, Wagid Hosain caught up and began improvising his own drum patterns. Koewarasan
Koewarasan ( Javanese : ꦏꦸꦮꦫꦱꦤ꧀ lit. meaning : "well-being") is a resort in Suriname, located in the Wanica District. Its population at the 2012 census was 27,713. It is located to the west of Paramaribo, and is mainly a suburban area. The municipality was founded in 1939, and was originally intended for the Javanese settlers from Java, however due to World War II, only a single group arrived. The majority of the population are East Indian. Prior to 1939, Koewarasan was an agricultural area used for the cultivation of rice. ''Chaudhvin Ka Chand'' () is a 1960 Indian Hindi-language Muslim social film directed by Mohammed Sadiq. This film was a super-hit at box-office, and became one of the top-grossing films of 1960. A production of Guru Dutt, the film centers on a love triangle between Guru Dutt, Rehman and Waheeda Rehman, and features music by Ravi. After the disastrous box office performance of ''Kaagaz Ke Phool'', Guru Dutt ventured into the idea of producing a commercial project to protect his studio from ruins. The next commercial venture by the studio was ''Chaudhvin ka Chand'', which was a successful comeback film for Guru Dutt and saved Guru Dutt's production studio from ruins. STVS (''Surinaamse Televisie Stichting'') is a television network in Suriname and was founded in 1965 by Prime Minister Johan Adolf Pengel. Anthony Conrad Nesty (born November 25, 1967) is a former competition swimmer from Suriname who was an Olympic gold medallist in the 100-metre butterfly event in 1988. He is currently the head coach of the Florida Gators men's and women's swim team at the University of Florida, where he attended school.
