Shadrack Kipchirchir
Shadrack Kipchirchir (born February 22, 1989) is a Kenyan-born American distance track and field Olympian specializing in the 10,000 m. Following in his brothers footsteps, Kipchirchir enlisted in the U.S. Army in October 2014 and joined the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program after his enlistment. He is a silver medalist at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 10,000 meters and placed second in the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials - Track & Field 10,000 m. He ran 27:58.32 and finished 19th for the 2016 Summer Olympics 8th in 3000 meters at the 2018 World Championships. Early life and college Kipchirchir had no experience running competitively until he moved to the United States, but earned All-America honors at Western Kentucky and Oklahoma State University where he studied Construction engineering to become an Engineer. Athletics at the 2016 Summer Olympics were held during the last 10 days of the games, from 12 to 21 August 2016, at the Olympic Stadium. The sport of athletics at the 2016 Summer Olympics was made into three distinct sets of events: track and field events, road running events, and racewalking events. The 2015 IAAF World Championships ( zh, 第十五届世界田径锦标赛), the fifteenth edition of the IAAF World Championships, were held from 22 to 30 August at the National Stadium in Beijing, China. Forty-three nations won medals, 144 of which were awarded. Kenya topped the medal table for the first time, with 7 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze medals. The United States won 18 medals, six gold, six silver and six bronze, which was the highest tally. Athletics competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto were held from July 19 to 26 at the newly built CIBC Pan Am and Parapan Am Athletics Stadium, located on the campus of York University. The racewalking and marathon events were held on the temporary circuits around the Ontario Place West Channel. The sport of athletics is split into distinct sets of events: track and field events, road running events, and racewalking events. Mirroring the Olympic athletics program, both men and women had very similar schedules of events. Men competed in 24 events and women in 23, as their schedule lacks the 50 km race walk. The men's 10,000 metres at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics was held at the London Olympic Stadium (London), Olympic Stadium on 4 August. The United States of America will compete at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics from August 22 to August 30 in Beijing, China. The membership of the team was selected at the 2015 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. However, membership on the team was subject to the athlete achieving a qualification standard. In addition, champions from the previous World Championships and the 2014 IAAF Diamond League receive an automatic bye. An automatic entry is also available to an Area Champion, the IAAF definition of an Area essentially being the specified continental areas of the world.
