Serhiivka ( uk, Сергіївка; ro, Sergheevca or ; russian: Сергеевка) is an urban-type settlement in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Raion of Odesa Oblast in Ukraine. It is located at the Black Sea coast at the opening of Budaki Lagoon, about of the city of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi. Izmail
Izmail (, , translit. ''Izmail,'' formerly Тучков ("Tuchkov"); ro, Ismail or ''Smil''; pl, Izmaił, bg, Исмаил) is a city and municipality on the Danube river in Odesa Oblast in south-western Ukraine. Serhiivka Missile Strike
On 1 July 2022, at 01:00 AM (UTC+3), a Russian missile hit a residential building and two missiles hit a recreational center in Serhiivka, in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Raion ( Odesa Oblast). The missile strike killed at least 21 people (including a 12-year-old boy). The event has signs of a war crime. July 2 was declared a day of mourning in the region. Course of events According to preliminary information, three Tu-22M3 aircraft of the Russian Air Force flew from the Volgograd Oblast to Crimea, and after fired three Kh-22s, supersonic anti-ship missiles designed for use against aircraft carriers, in the direction of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district to the resort Serhiivka village. A hromada ( uk, територіальна громада, lit=territorial community, translit=terytorialna hromada) is a basic unit of administrative division in Ukraine, similar to a municipality. It was established by the Government of Ukraine on 12 June 2020. Similar terms exist in Poland (''gromada'') and in Belarus (''hramada''). Budaki Lagoon
Budaki, or Budaksky Lagoon (other names: Shabolatsky Liman, Shabolat, Budaksky Liman; uk, Будацький лиман, Шаболат, ro, Limanul Budachi, Şabolat) is a Black Sea lagoon (liman (landform), liman) in Bessarabia, southern Ukraine. Located in 18 km from the city of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi. The lagoon is separated from the Black Sea by the 80–200 m wide sandbar. The health spa urban-type settlement of Serhiivka, Serhiivka settlement hromada, Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Raion, Odesa Oblast, Serhiivka is located on the coasts of the Budaki Lagoon. The temporary connection between the lagoon and the sea is organised via artificial canal «Budaki» (on the southern west), sometime via natural erosion (washout) of the sandbar.
