Selizharovka River
The Selizharovka (russian: Селижа́ровка) is a river in Ostashkovsky and Selizharovsky Districts of Tver Oblast, Russia, a left tributary of the Volga. The length of the river is , and the area of its drainage basin is . It is one of the uppermost substantial tributaries of the Volga. The settlement of Selizharovo is located near the river mouth. The Selizharovka is the only outflow of Lake Seliger, the biggest natural lake of the Upper Volga basin. It starts at the southern corner of the lake, at the village of Nizhniye Kotitsy. It flows southeast, crosses into Selizharovsky District, and joins the Volga at the urban-type settlement of Selizharovo. Tver Oblast (russian: Тверска́я о́бласть, ''Tverskaya oblast'', ), from 1935 to 1990 known as Kalinin Oblast (), is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast). Selizharovo
Selizharovo (russian: Селижа́рово) is an urban locality (an urban-type settlement) and the administrative center of Selizharovsky District of Tver Oblast, Russia situated at the confluence of the Selizharovka and Volga Rivers. Population: History Selizharovo was first mentioned in 1504. In 1547 Tsar Ivan the Terrible gave it to the Simonov Monastery which was located in Moscow. In the course of the administrative reform carried out in 1708 by Peter the Great, the area was included into Ingermanlandia Governorate (since 1710 known as Saint Petersburg Governorate), and in 1727 Novgorod Governorate split off.
