Secular Proggresive Front (2002-2012)
The Secular Progressive Front was a political alliance in Manipur, India, which formed before the 2002 Manipur Legislative Assembly election and ruled Manipur from 2002 until 2012, when the alliance was broken. Front members The political parties of the alliance were: Background and electoral performance Formation and 2002 assembly election In 2002 Manipur Legislative Assembly election, it was resulted hung assembly with INC winning 20 seats, FPP winning 13 seats, MSCP winning 7 seats, CPI 5 seats, BJP 4 seats, NCP 3 seats and others 8 seats. SPF was formed on March 1, 2002 and it urged the Governor Ved Marwah to invite them to form the Government with a list of 33 supporting MLAs. On March 7, 2002, first SPF Government was created. Along with chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh from INC, ministers were sworn in including Govindas Konthoujam of MSCP, Pheiroijam Parijat Singh of CPI and Chungkhokai Doungel of NCP. The Left and Democratic Front (or Left and Secular Democratic Front) was a pre-poll alliance of political parties in the Indian state of Manipur, which was formed ahead of the 2017 Manipur Legislative Assembly election. About the alliance The political parties in the Front had a 35-point common minimum programme. Their manifesto was constituted on the Left Front models of Tripura and Kerala. Moirangthem Nara, who was the general secretary of CPI Manipur, was the Convenor of the alliance. LDF projected itself as an alternative to both the Congress and the BJP. 2012 Manipur Legislative Assembly Election
The 2012 Manipur Legislative Assembly election was held in Indian state of Manipur in Feb-March 2012, to elect 60 members to the Manipur Legislative Assembly. Results The Voter turnout was 79.19%. Congress won majority of the seats. Incumbent Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh was re-elected for the post. The Democratic Revolutionary Peoples Party (DRPP) was a political party in the Indian state of Manipur. Chungkhokai Doungel (1940/1941 – 21 May 2023) was an Indian politician.
