The Seaforth Generals are a United Hockey Union-sanctioned junior ice hockey team from Seaforth, Ontario, Canada. They are a member of the Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League and began play in the 2016–17 season. History Prior to settling on Seaforth, Generals' owner 28-year-old T.J. Runhart, also considered Monkton Ontario. There was also the possibility of placing the team in the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League (GMHL) but operating costs were too high. Seaforth, Ontario
Seaforth (2021 population: 2,673) is a Southern Ontario community in the municipality of Huron East, in Huron County, Ontario, Canada. History Originally known as ''Four Corners'' and ''Steene's Corners'' after an early settler, much of the area of what is now Seaforth was acquired by brothers Christopher and George Sparling in anticipation of the construction of the Buffalo, Brantford and Goderich Railway. Developer James Patton of Barrie purchased the land and laid out a townsite in 1855. The name 'Seaforth' may be derived from the Scottish Seaforth Highlanders regiment or Loch Seaforth in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland. A post office was established in Seaforth in 1859. Incorporation as a Village followed in 1868 and as a Town in 1874. In 2001, Seaforth was amalgamated with Brussels, Grey Township, McKillop Township and Tuckersmith Township to form the Municipality of Huron East. Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League
The Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League (GMHL) is a Canadian developmental junior ice hockey league. The league has primarily had teams in the Greater Toronto Area, Central Ontario, Northeastern Ontario, and Quebec. In 2019, they added three teams from Alberta. As of December 2019, the league's alumni page lists 889 players from 2006 to 2019 who graduated from the GMHL to play for NCAA colleges, various professional leagues, major junior teams, or represented their country in various IIHF World Championships. The GMHL is an independent junior league and is not a member of the Canadian Junior Hockey League or sanctioned by Hockey Canada. The Severn Stallions are a United Hockey Union-sanctioned junior ice hockey team from Severn, Ontario, Canada. They are a member of the Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League and began play in the 2016–17 season. For the team's first three seasons, it was known as the Essa Stallions in Essa, Ontario. History On May 4, 2016, proposals were made to Essa Township Council where it was agreed the Essa Stallions would be allowed to play in the fall of 2016 in the Angus Recreation Centre. Their first head coach would be Sylvain Cloutier, a 20-year hockey journeyman who has played in North America and England. Cloutier has coached several teams including the Corpus Christi IceRays ( CHL) in 2008–09. The Stallions qualified for 2017 playoffs after their inaugural season. The Muskoka Wild were a United Hockey Union-sanctioned junior ice hockey team from Port Carling, Ontario, Canada. They were a member of the Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League and played in the 2016–17 season. History The Muskoka Wild came to fruition when Northern Athletic Education (NAE), an athletic training company based out of Port Carling, partnered with the newly formed Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League (CPJHL) to bring junior hockey to the Muskoka region. The Wild played their inaugural game on September 24, 2016, defeating the Seaforth Generals 6-2. Monkton, Ontario
Monkton is a village in Perth County, Ontario, Canada, located at the intersection of County Roads 55 and 23. The community is west of Milverton and southwest of Listowel. It is part of the Municipality of North Perth. The village is home to the Monkton Wildcats, a Senior Hockey Club of the Western Ontario Athletic Association. The village is situated partly in Logan but largely in Elma. History Monkton originated with the construction of the Logan gravel road. In 1857 Mr. T. M. Daly, a contractor on the highway, erected the first building in the new settlement, a blacksmith shop located on 47 Maddison st east.
