Scottish Regional Leagues
The Scottish Regional Leagues are the lowest levels of the Scottish rugby union system. They consist of three regions: * West Regional Leagues * East Regional Leagues * Caledonia Regional Leagues Unlike the Premiership, National League and parts of the League Championship, which were formed in 1973 and have remained roughly the same since, the Regional Leagues have grown over time, in a process which saw the old District Leagues amalgamated into the national structure. Up to and including season 2006–07, some divisions operated pools (where the division was split in two, with pre-Christmas and post-Christmas mini-groups) but from season 2007–08 all the divisions will be standard all-play-all formats of between 10 and 12 clubs. From season 2012–13 the whole League was revamped into a pyramid structure. The 6 National Divisions were scrapped because of travel costs and lack of movement between leagues. Rugby Union
Rugby union, commonly known simply as rugby, is a close-contact team sport that originated at Rugby School in the first half of the 19th century. One of the two codes of rugby football, it is based on running with the ball in hand. In its most common form, a game is played between two teams of 15 players each, using an oval-shaped ball on a rectangular field called a pitch. The field has H-shaped goalposts at both ends. Cambuslang RFC is a rugby union side based in Cambuslang, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The team was established in 1903. They play their home games at Coats Park. They currently play in . History On 7 August 1903, a meeting was held under the Presidency of the late H. Shepherd, Esq., at which it was decided to form a Rugby Club at Cambuslang. The Club commenced playing at Greenlees Farm, and under the guidance of Mr. Shepherd and the benevolent auspices of the late Dr. T. D. Laird, its Honorary President, went from strength to strength until the beginning of the 1914–1918 War. Dalziel RFC
Dalziel Rugby Football Club, formerly known as Dalziel High School Former Pupils Rugby Club, currently has a playing and social membership hailing from Motherwell, Wishaw, Bellshill and other parts of Lanarkshire, Scotland. Historically the club was closely associated with Dalziel High School in Motherwell from which it takes its name. A number of current players are former pupils of Dalziel High School. However, during the 1990s it was felt that the club should drop the "former pupil" tag and be known, in what was felt to be a more inclusive manner, as Dalziel RFC. Strathendrick RFC is a rugby union side based in Fintry, Stirlingshire. The 1st XV play in . History The club was founded in 1975. It has a tradition of touring; and it has toured in Kansas (1992) and Toronto (2001). Stewartry RFC is a rugby union side based in Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.They field a Men's 1XV, Women's 1XV and 7 youth sides from S1 to S6. Lenzie RFC is a rugby union side based in Lenzie, East Dunbartonshire, Scotland. The club was founded in 1898. They play their home games at Viewfield.
