Dalziel RFC
Dalziel Rugby Football Club, formerly known as Dalziel High School Former Pupils Rugby Club, currently has a playing and social membership hailing from Motherwell, Wishaw, Bellshill and other parts of Lanarkshire, Scotland. Historically the club was closely associated with Dalziel High School in Motherwell from which it takes its name. A number of current players are former pupils of Dalziel High School. However, during the 1990s it was felt that the club should drop the "former pupil" tag and be known, in what was felt to be a more inclusive manner, as Dalziel RFC. The club play in and have their home playing grounds at Dalziel Park close to Carfin, just outside Motherwell. They support three senior XVs, under 18s, under 16s, under 15s, S2s and S1s, as well as a large mini rugby section for players of primary school age.Club ... The Scottish Rugby Union (SRU; gd, Aonadh Rugbaidh na h-Alba) is the governing body of rugby union in Scotland. Styled as Scottish Rugby, it is the second oldest Rugby Union, having been founded in 1873. Uddingston RFC
Uddingston Rugby Football Club is a rugby union team, based in Uddingston, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The club's home is at Uddingston Cricket and Sports Club, Bothwell Castle Policies, Castle Avenue, Uddingston. G71 7HJ. In addition to Senior 1st and 2nd XV teams the club also has a thriving youth rugby section with players at every age group ranging from Primary 1 through to under-18. New for 2021 was the formation of our Women's team; The Selkies. Season 2013–14 The 1st XV won the West Regional League West Three title losing only one game. Preston Lodge Former Pupil Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club based in Prestonpans in East Lothian, Scotland. Formed in 1929, they currently play in Scottish National League Division Two. History The club formed in 1929–30 with Dr. Boyle as its first president and originates from the roots of Preston Lodge High School, formed in 1924. This connection is still going strong today. The club fields teams at every age group Primary 1–7, Secondary 1–3, under-16, under-18. As well as fielding two senior XV's. The Club has formed links over the years with United Pirates – a club in New Zealand and Balmy Beach rugby club in Toronto, Canada. Dalziel, Dalzell or Dalyell ( ) is a Scottish surname. Pronunciation The unintuitive spelling of the name is due to it being an anglicisation of Scottish Gaelic ''Dail-gheal'', meaning bright dale. Carfin
Carfin (Scottish Gaelic: ''An Càrn Fionn'', meaning the White Cairn) is a village situated to the north-east of Motherwell, Scotland. Most local amenities are shared with the adjacent villages of Holytown, Newarthill and New Stevenston which have a combined population of around 20,000 across the four localities. Local facilities Carfin has strong Irish Catholic links, which are exemplified in Carfin Grotto a famous pilgrimage place, with extensive gardens and a visitors' centre with cafe. It was built in the early 1920s, when parish priest, Canon Thomas Nimmo Taylor engaged the unemployed miners of the village to build a shrine to Our Lady of Lourdes, allowing people in Scotland to venerate the Blessed Virgin without having to travel to France to do so. Dalziel Park is an area located between the villages of Carfin, Cleland, North Lanarkshire, Cleland and Newarthill in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. Other nearby settlements include the large town of Motherwell and the new town of Ravenscraig. The area consists of a residential estate, a sports facility (regarded as one of the best in Scotland), a golf course and a clubhouse. Dalziel High School is a non-denominational secondary school in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. The head teacher is Jaclyn Martin. Overview Dalziel High School was founded in 1898. James K. Scobbie, Rector from 1957 until 1974, greatly enhanced the school's performance during his tenure. Since then, the school has received some of the best reports of any school in Scotland. The school was one of the first in the country to be awarded Charter Mark status (now Customer Service Excellence), as well as being awarded the National Award For Excellence for Work and Enterprise.
