Schaumburg Boomers
The Schaumburg Boomers are a professional baseball team based in Schaumburg, Illinois that began play in the independent Frontier League in 2012. The team plays its home games at Wintrust Field. The Boomers replaced the now defunct Schaumburg Flyers of the Northern League after the franchise was evicted for not paying almost US$1 million in back rent. The "Boomers" nickname comes from a common nickname for males of the greater prairie chicken species, a bird which was once abundant in the Midwest but is now a vulnerable species. That bird's nickname comes from the dance these males do in order to attract females for mating purposes. The Boomers carry on the mascot's tradition by performing a reenactment of the prairie chicken's dance in between innings during games. The Florence Y'alls are a professional baseball team based within the Greater Cincinnati region in the city of Florence, Kentucky. The Y'alls are a member of the West Division of the Frontier League, an independent baseball league. Since 2004, they have played their home games at Thomas More Stadium, which is located near Interstates 71 and 75. The Y'alls franchise has won three Frontier League championships. However, these titles came when the team existed as the Erie Sailors (1994), Johnstown Steal (1995), and Johnstown Johnnies (2000). The franchise is currently tied with the Rockford RiverHawks (including years as Portsmouth and Springfield), the Schaumburg Boomers, and the River City Rascals (including years as Zanesville) for the most league championships with each franchise winning three. Justin Erasmus
Justin Erasmus (born 22 January 1990) is a South African Australian professional baseball pitcher for the Heidenheim Heideköpfe of the Baseball Bundesliga. Although Erasmus was born in South Africa, he grew up in Brisbane, Australia where he started his baseball career and has represented both countries. Career Erasmus was signed by the Red Sox as an international free agent in 2007. He was named to the South Africa national baseball team for the 2009 World Baseball Classic where he started against Mexico, giving up an RBI double and two-run home-run to Adrián González, finishing the tournament 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA. 2022 Frontier League Season
The 2022 Frontier League season is the 29th season of professional baseball in the Frontier League since its creation in June 1993. There are 16 Frontier League teams, split evenly between two divisions, the East, and West divisions. Season schedule After the folding of the Southern Illinois Miners, the league brought back the Frontier Greys as the 16th member of the Frontier League, operating as a road travel team for the season. The 16 teams in the league are split evenly between two divisions, the East, and West divisions. Evansville Otters
The Evansville Otters are a professional baseball team based in Evansville, Indiana. They compete in the West Division of the independent Frontier League. Since their establishment in 1995, the Otters have played at historic Bosse Field, which originally opened in 1915. The Otters are the oldest current team in the Frontier League and have won two championships (2006 and 2016).
