''Army Brats'' ( nl, Schatjes!) is a 1984 Dutch comedy film directed by Ruud van Hemert. The film is a dark family comedy, guerrilla warfare between disturbed parents ( Peter Faber and Geert de Jong) and their disruptive children leads to chaos and mayhem. The film drew 1 million visitors, making it one of the most successful Dutch films ever. Ruud Van Hemert
Ruud van Hemert (29 October 1938 – 5 July 2012) was a Dutch film director known especially for (dark) comedy. In the 1970s he helped produce and direct TV shows on VPRO before starting a career as a film director. Biography Ruud van Hemert was the son of television producer Willy van Hemert, and followed in his father's footsteps, making two television films for the VPRO, ''TV-Eiland'' (1965), and ''Pepijn op wieletjes'' ("a children's film for and about naughty children" conceived by Hans Andreus, followed by a few other children's shows, with Harrie Geelen. A breakthrough was the (stylistically experimental) documentary ''Oranje Vrijstaat'', which had controversial politician Roel van Duijn as a central figure. Peter Faber (actor)
Peter Faber (born 9 October 1943, in Schwarzenbach an der Saale, Germany) is a Dutch stage, television and film actor. Biography Faber was born in Germany, to a set of parents who beat him regularly; he was rebellious from an early age. They moved to Amsterdam-Noord when he was six. His mother left with another man, and his father had to make do working whatever job was available. At sixteen, Faber left home and roamed around for a while. Early career Faber was co-founder of Het Werkteater and twice won a Louis d'Or for his roles in '' Het Koekoeksnest'' and '' Avondrood''. This is a list of submissions to the 57th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was created in 1956 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honour non-English-speaking films produced outside the United States. The award is handed out annually, and is accepted by the winning film's director, although it is considered an award for the submitting country as a whole. Countries are invited by the Academy to submit their best films for competition according to strict rules, with only one film being accepted from each country. A comedy film is a category of film which emphasizes humor. These films are designed to make the audience laugh through amusement. Rijk de Gooyer (17 December 1925 – 2 November 2011) was a Dutch Golden Calf-winning actor, writer, comedian and singer. From the 1950s until the early 1970s, he became well known in The Netherlands as part of a comic duo with John Kraaijkamp, Sr. In the United States best known for having small roles in films such as '' Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht'', ''Soldaat van Oranje'', '' A Time to Die'' and ''The Wilby Conspiracy''.
