Saxon III K
The Saxon III K (three K) were a class of six locomotives of the Royal Saxon State Railways with a track gauge of . In 1925, the Deutsche Reichsbahn grouped these locomotives into their DRG Class 99.754. History Since 1881, numerous narrow-gauge lines, some of them with many bends and inclines, had been opened in Saxony, and the volume of traffic had steadily increased. The performance of the I K initially used was soon no longer sufficient. Locomotives with Klose running gear and Klose articulated bunkers () were an alternative, as they were already supplied by Krauss in Linz to the and the as . The Royal Saxon State Railways therefore ordered two of these more powerful locomotives at the end of the 1880s. Delivered in the spring of 1889, they were assigned to the class Kr Kl T K. Sächsische Maschinenfabrik
The Sächsische Maschinenfabrik in Chemnitz was one of the most important engineering companies in Saxony in the second half of the 19th century and the first two decades of the 20th century. Including its various predecessor businesses, the firm existed from 1837 until its liquidation in 1930, and individual branches of the company taken over by others continued to operate until 1990. The company is closely linked with the name of its founder and long-time manager, Richard Hartmann, whose name formed part of the new company title in 1898: the ''Sächsische Maschinenfabrik vormals Richard Hartmann'' ('Saxon Engineering Factory, formerly Richard Hartmann'). Injector
An injector is a system of ducting and nozzles used to direct the flow of a high-pressure fluid in such a way that a lower pressure fluid is entrained in the jet and carried through a duct to a region of higher pressure. It is a fluid-dynamic pump with no moving parts except a valve to control inlet flow. A steam injector is a typical application of the principle used to deliver cold water to a boiler against its own pressure, using its own live or exhaust steam, replacing any mechanical pump. When first developed, its operation was intriguing because it seemed paradoxical, almost like perpetual motion, but it was later explained using thermodynamics. Mügeln
Mügeln is a town in the district Nordsachsen, in Saxony, Germany. It is located 9 km southwest of Oschatz and 14 km northwest of Döbeln. The town has a population of approximately 4700 people. Geography Mügeln lies almost equidistant between Leipzig and Dresden at a distance of approximately 50 km from each town. Mügeln is not directly situated on any main traffic routes, but 10 km south of Mügeln one encounters the A14 motorway, and 10 km to the north one encounters the B6 federal highway, close to Oschatz. In addition, there is a tourist narrow gauge railway, the Wild Robert (''Wilder Robert'') which is operated by the Döllnitzbahn company as one of its attractions. The Heidenau–Kurort Altenberg railway, also known in German as the ''Müglitztalbahn'' ("Müglitz Valley Railway") is a German railway in Saxony. Branching off the Děčín–Dresden-Neustadt railway, Elbe Valley Railway, it connects the town of Heidenau near Dresden with the towns of Glashütte and Altenberg, Saxony, Altenberg in the Ore Mountains, Kurort Altenberg (Erzgebirge) railway station, where it terminates.
