Savak (band)
SAVAK is an indie rock band from Brooklyn, New York. Their debut album Best of Luck in Future Endeavors was released on Comedy Minus One in May 2016, garnering positive reviews in Magnet Magazine, Brooklyn Vegan, Noisey, Vol. 1 Brooklyn and ''Jersey Beat''. The record received four stars in Mojo Magazine, who praised their ''"superior twin-guitar slash."'' Since then the band has released 3 additional albums on the Ernest Jenning) record label including Cut-Ups in 2017, Beg Your Pardon in 2018 and Rotting Teeth in the Horse's Mouth in 2020. SAVAK released their latest album Human Error / Human Delight in April of 2022 on their own record label, Peculiar Works Music. Sohrab Habibion of SAVAK was previously in the bands Obits and Edsel. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United States, United Kingdom and New Zealand from the 1970s to the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock or "Pop rock, guitar pop rock". One of the primary scenes of the movement was Dunedin, where Dunedin sound, a cultural scene based around a convergence of noise pop and jangle became popular among the city's University of Otago, large student population. Edsel (band)
Edsel was an American post-hardcore band from Washington, D.C. who formed in 1988. They released four albums on a yearly basis from 1992 to 1995, which included the ''Techniques of Speed Hypnosis'' album on the major label Relativity Records in 1995. They went on a hiatus in 1997, followed by brief reformations from 2000 to 2001 and 2012 to 2013. Holy Fuck
Holy Fuck is a Canadian electronica band from Toronto. They were a part of Dependent Music, a music label and artist collective that began in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia in 2004 until its closing. They were then a part of the Young Turks label and in 2016 they signed with Innovative Leisure. The band uses live instrumentation and miscellaneous instruments and non-instruments (including a 35 mm film synchronizer, toy keyboards and toy phaser guns) to achieve electronic-sounding effects without the use of laptops or programmed backing tracks. According to Pitchfork Media, "The band was formed with the intent of creating the equivalent of modern electronic music without actually using the techniques— looping, splicing, programming and the like—of that music." Matt Schulz is an American drummer who was in the past a member of Enon, Lab Partners, Obits and Let's Crash, and is currently active as a member of Holy Fuck, COVERBAND, SAVAK, Lake Ruth, Aperiodic, and Roid Rage. Obits was an American Rock music, rock band formed in 2006 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York. The band members are veterans of other independent rock bands: Guitarist/singing, vocalist Rick Froberg was previously a member of Pitchfork (band), Pitchfork, Drive Like Jehu, and Hot Snakes, and guitarist Sohrab Habibion was a member of Edsel (band), Edsel. The band has released five single (music), singles and three albums, ''I Blame You'' (2009), ''Moody, Standard and Poor'' (2011) and ''Bed and Bugs'' (2013).
